Unhappy Training my ears to hear better..

My hearing isn't as good as it used to be due to 1000's of hours being spent with headphones on with the volume cranked up to 70 or higher and I have to have things turned up 3/4 of the way to really hear everything, and things sound muffled sometimes, especially dialogue in movies, when everyone says it sounds crystal clear.

Is there a way to condition my ears back into respectable shape? I've currently got my PC volume at 10 and I'm listening to quiet tracks to try to pick out instruments and such, but I'm wondering if there are other ways of achieving this..

I think that once it's been damaged, it's damaged. I'm in my own place now, thank God. So I don't have to deal with college idiots. I'm sure since I was in a horrible university that I've damaged my hearing to block out retards.

I'd suggest going to a hearing specialist to get facts, as opposed to a thread for opinion.

Once it's gone it's gone.. I ruined mine by going to one too many heavy metal concerts and always having my headphones loud.

I have a condition called "Tinitis", it's the ringing in the ears, plus a little hearing loss. Some due to firearms in my younger years, time in the Air Force as well. I'm 10% disabled through the VA because of it.
What I can tell you about your hearing is that once it's damaged it doesn't come back. You could have some instances of temporary hearing damage like after a concert or something like that but the permanent kind won't get better.
Speak to your Dr or see about getting in with an Audiologist who can eval your hearing.

Same here. Too many metal concerts in my teens/early twenties. Plus I always have my headphones on at the gym.

Yup, you can't get your hearing back once it's gone, unfortunately. That's why I wear custom molded earplugs to music shows now.
