For sometime now, we have been seeing Gone with the Wind listed on Amazon. And recently they have even listed a price that it can be pre-ordered at.

Well, today, I got an email that the Warner Bros. online store, WBshop.com, is now officially listing it for sale...$64.99...and they have a release date: 11/30/02.

Wait a second...02? I hope they mean November 30 of this year and that we don't have to wait 93 more years until 2102.

The good news is, it does seem to accept discount codes. At least the WBSURVEY6 that I tried!

when i click on any of the movies. when it takes me to the website. click on Wizard of Oz. then, goto the BD version. the price is totally different from the email. click on this image at the website.

Not totally different: $64.95...5 cents difference.

Uh oh. Something's happened. I had GWTW put in my cart a few hours ago but hadn't placed the order. Just now, I went back in and there was a thing in red saying the price or something was no longer good or something and to please remove it from the cart. So I did and then tried going back to the GWTW page to try it again...and it's gone. I went back to the email I got about this special, and it no longer goes to the GWTW page. A search turned up nothing. Same for Lord of the Rings.

I wonder what's going on?

Did you happen to do the screenshot AFTER you signed in to the site? That's the price you get with the 25% discount and if you signed in or it instantly recognizes you from the prior time, then it could be that it is remembering the discount you have online. If you were to clear your computer of all cookies, then the site might be seeing you fresh and just show the $64.95 price.

You're right, that is weird. Bait and switch? Funny, though, that looks like the discount price they had just before this last weekend. I wonder if they haven't updated that portion of the site to reflect just the higher, regular price. It deserves a call to WB customer service. And whoever alls, please find out what happened to the GWTW and LOTR sets they had on there yesterday that they sent out the email announcements about.

Though the Blu-ray shows a 11/30/02 release date (clearly incorrect), the two DVD editions at WBShop show a 12/1/09 release date. Since the latter is a Tuesday while 11/30/09 is not, I'd guess December 1 is the correct release date. December is also likely because that's the month GWTW premiered in 1939, per multiple sources.
