We don`t have an ipod but the wife just got an iphone today. Can we down load songs from itunes and play them from my sc-05?

yes you can, just not with direct control of the iphone. you can use a cable like this one, http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00..._ya_os_product , I use one of these myself and connect the rca stereo left & right ends of the into an unused stereo analog input, switch your receiver to that input then using the iphone, turn it to your music and play it (i usually set it to shuffle then i don't have to touch it for hours)

of course, if you want to see what's on your iphone as well as hear it you can buy the component or composite (both with audio/stereo sound) and connect that to the iphone then connect the other ends to your receiver and your going. however with this method your still going to have to do all your controlling direct from the iphone (use the shuffle mode)

best of luck, i recommend option one, get the simple, cheap cable and set it to shuffle sit back and listen to hours of music without getting up, that is what i do!

Yes. For best sound quality, make sure you only download songs that use a lossless codec. Also, instead of using one of the usual iPod docks, check out the Wadia 170 iTransport. It'll give you much better sound quality than the usual iPod docks because it bypasses the iPhone's rather crapper internal DAC and analogue circuitry, allowing you to use a better external one (like the one in your receiver).

At the moment, the Wadia is the only iPod dock on the market with this capability.
