Default Palm Pre Vs. HTC Touch Pro

So I'm going to be upgrading my phone pretty soon. Sprint is the only carrier that works worth a damn where I live so these are my 2 top of the line options. The difference is only about 100 buck more for the Pre.

So vote away! I'll be fine getting either one of these.

EDIT: This will mainly be used for texting and internet browsing. I don't often call people. Also, the size differential of the phones does not bother me.

Palm Pre! Just got it last week and I love it. One of the best feeling smart phones in my hands, real keyboard, slick styling, awesome WebOS, and this is just the beginning. It quickly grabbed all of my contacts from facebook and google and my old phone and merged them with little editing. Free GPS nav, traffic, turn by turn as well.

App store is slim right now but the dev community is already biting at the bit and you can actually use the thousand of iphone web apps that were created before the iphone actually got its app store. Once the official SDK is released sometime this summer the apps will explode especially since a leaked version is already out there.

The #1 use for a phone for me is actually the phone, and the Pre doesn't disappoint. Sound quality is great on both ends. Something the iphone never seemed to impress me with.

Definitely get the touchstone charger if you go with the Pre. Cool charger, but it also replaces the back cover with a very nice, non piano black back. No more greasy finger prints all over the phone.

Main use for me is texting. That's what I use my current phone for. I really want it for internet though so I have something to do at work besides college crap.

be prepared if you get the htc touch pro to have some tough menus to navigate the manual is 300 FULL sized pages long. Lots of menu's nothing is straight forward... But once its set up its a good phone. my dad has it. Just to change the backlight time I think its about 3-4 clicks thru different menu's

I have the Touch Pro.

It is okay, but I wish I had held out for the Pre, or maybe the TP2.

I have had it freeze at random times, and obviously the battery life is terrible. Even with everything off mine still struggles to make a full day without charging. The Keyboard is great though. I think the vertical slider on teh pre is my only concern.

I tried out a Touch Pro when I was shopping for my companies phones and didn't like the interface at all. My roommate also used to sell cell phones and he said at least 90% of the people that got a Touch Pro (or any HTC product) would return it within the 30 day exchange period. I'd go with the Pre.

yeah it has really bad interface, so unless your a tech junkie or don't want to spend hrs and I mean Hours figuring it out I'd try something else.

Then go with the Pre. Real keyboard, easy to text. Internet is great, fast. Auto wifi based on location which makes it even faster. Multitasking.
