The article is 100% right! Gamespot should burn for the scores they gave to Suikoden 1 and 2, arguably two of the absolute BEST RPGs available for the original Playstation. The fact that they let some RPG "newbs" (sorry, I hate that word too) review those games was a travesty.

After have seeing JRPGs doing so well on 360 Konami will for sure make it on 360. (sarcasm)
I really hope they look at the sales for other JRPGs on 360 and PS3 before they made a decision. WKC outsold 360's JRPGs worldwide (exept LO) with 400k in Japan alone. But because Suikoden is not a very big cashcow I don't think Microsoft is seeing any potential in this series to add more sales to them. I don't think Sony would care at this series anymore because the fifth game didn't do that well. It's up to Konami which system they want Suikoden on. |

I'm glad I'm not the only one. Going from a nobody to someone that "kings" respect and admire is a great story. Of course, I typically don't play games for their game play. I play for the story. To me it makes no difference if you don't have 6 characters in your party so that you can do a super-ultra-combo-special-uber-destructo-cool move, as opposed to 4 characters doing the exact same type of move....

Well, don't let the opinions of others sway you - if you liked 4 you liked 4! I too have a fair share of games I enjoyed despite critical bashing (two of which were Beyond the Beyond and Saga Frontier, although I admit I had weird reasons for liking the both of them).
On another note, I liked 5. It harkened (lol, never thought I'd use that word again) back to the old days of Suikoden 1 and 2. In my mind (and in the minds of other Suikoden fans), it is the spiritual successor to the earlier Suikodens on the PS1. |

I liked 1 when it first came out but it did not age well. Never played 2. 3 and 4 did nothing for me, and as far as I remember I never played 5. If I did, I completely forgot about it so that'd pretty much sum up my feelings about it.
People like weird games sometimes. I always deduct major points from my reviews if the main character doesn't speak. Dragon Quest is guilty of this. Even Chrono Trigger is, but everything else was such a masterpiece that it still rates among my top 5. |

I hope that Suikoden finds Its way to the PS3. I love this series. I wasn't that fond of 3 or 4, but I can't help but to remember how much I loved 1 and 2. 5 did the series justice.
Konami, please make my dreams come true |

I can't say I agree with you guys here. I don't mind when the main character doesn't speak. It leaves more up to the imagination which is a lot more interesting (in most cases). Some of the best JRPGs of all time have mute main characters and I wouldn't want it any other way! I'd also venture to say that JRPGs with (essentially) mute main characters have an overall higher review rating than ones with guys who can speak. I say "essentially mute" because I include games like the Personas where the main character is mute besides the text choices you make here and there when responding to NPCs.
