Angry Where are the movies??

Looking at the releases for Blu-ray thru November, Sony (Columbia) and Disney are releasing only seventeen titles exclusively on Blu-Ray (of course Fox has zilch....). Altho Blu-Ray has been touting more studios backing them, they don't seem to be pushing much titles out.

In the same time frame, Universal ALONE is releasing 33 titles. Blu-Ray studios better get on the ball if they want to maintain the lead. If we don't have titles to buy, sales figures will be skewed showing a bigger share for HD-DVD.

Paramount has been pretty good in releasing titles for both formats but Warner has been somewhat biased for HD-DVD releases because of the lack of BD-Java interactivity (Batman Begins and the Matrix Trilogy comes to mind).

I would like to see Blu-Ray win and end this stupid format war but they do not seem to be able or willing to deliver a final blow. Blu-Ray is holding awinning hand but is not willing to trump HD-DVD. If this was a game of poker, they would probably be easily bluffed into folding.

somewhere in one of these threads has a release date for both Kill Bill movies along with Pulp Fiction ...plus you have Spider-man 3, Pirates 3, Cars etc..

there are plenty of movies that won't be announced until about a month in advance...sort of like Blood Diamond...

and BD currently has more movies out than HD DVD...so I'm not complaining...plus the quality of movies is nice as well..

You don't think all titles have been announced, do you? There's a couple of studios that haven't announced in a long time and I'm sure other studios are also strategically waiting to move their chess pieces according to the other pieces that might or may not be played.

Historicaly 24 BDs have been released every month. So that means 120+ titles through November. So by then we should have about more than 400 titles. If they don't increase the pace.

I'd rather have ten GOOD bluray movies rather than 70 mediocre HDDVD releases!

Blu-Ray studios should at least make more release announcements. I know they do seem to add titles at the last minute, but number titles for the rest of the summer is looking awfully thin. Europe and Australia seems to be getting more title releases announced than we are.

Fox should at least say something about why they are not currently releasing titles.

It's good that they are releasing some hits but the so called "BIG" announcement about "Immortal Beloved" does not quite cut it for me. I thought they would announce the Spiderman trilogy or something along that line.

if they release these movies in the UK in august, we will likely see them before they do...

note: aren't we getting 300 on the 31st of august and they are getting it on the 8th? (I could be a few days off either way)...

I saw some country...maybe the UK with a release date lineup of "300, Kill Bill 1&2, Pulp Fiction"...that could be what comes out in the US on the 31st of august and we've heard nothing of it right now..

just as I said about the Blood Diamond release...we didn't know until a month in advance what the date for that was...

Why? At CES they announced tons of titles and for the most part due to reasons unknown to us many were delayed. How did people respond? I don't blame them for not announcing titles way in advance due to how people react when things don't go according to plan. It seems to me that waiting until everything is absolutely set in stone to announce titles makes more sense.

Did I miss something? Did Sony ever say they had a "BIG" announcement? As far as I can tell that was all hype and speculation built up by consumers.... how is that Sony's fault?

They haven't even started announcing Q3 titles yet.
Be patient - this thing will be embarrassing for HD DVD by the end of Christmas. I wouldn't be surprised if December as a whole month is 90-10 for Blu-ray.

To jon s
HD-DVD may have 33 titles coming form Universal alone, but here's the real question. How many of those are must have titles?
I believe if you count, Blu-ray will have more must have titles than HD-DVD, even though Blu-ray list is still incomplete.
