Question Pairing the BD remote to the PS3

Hi all,
I am having difficulties on pairing the BD remote control with thew PS3. In the instructions, it does state that I should press the START and ENTER buttons simultaneously. My question is: What the heck is the START button on the remote? Neither the user's manual from the player or the PS3 manual state which one is that button. Please help me here as I am at a loss at this point. Thank you in advance for your help.

Sebastian

Default Pairing the BD remote to the PS3

G'day,

The start button is a little triangle located next to the select (rectangle) button. Both are located under the round PS button and above the play button. Hope this helps.

P.S. It can take a while to pair up. Just so you know.

Look above the PLAY button and you will see select on the right and START on the right.

So you guys are saying that I should press the START on the PS3 controller and the ENTER on the remote? I did that and nothing happens. This might be because the remote belongs to the blu player? I have got a BDP-S300 and was thinking to use the remote that came with it for PS3. Any ideas why this isn't working? I kept pressing hte buttons for about 30 seconds or so and... NOTHING.

you have to buy the ps3 bluetooth remote.(see link) cant be just any remote, since the ps3 has no infra red sensor. http://www.amazon.com/Sony-PlayStati...8857902&sr=8-1

No you the BD remote has a start button

OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH well there u go...the instructions u read were specifically for the sony ps3's blu ray remote.....NO OTHER BD REMOTE WILL WORK WITH THE PS3 (not to my knowledge) and pressing start on the controller and enter the BDP-S300 remote wont work...jsu go down to best buy with $25 and pick a BD remote for the playstation 3

Before you press the two buttons simultaneously, you need to go to

Settings > Accessory Settings > Register Bluetooth Device > Register BD Remote Control

It helps to use the PS3 Bluetooth Blu-ray remote for this of course.

I missed this nugget of info.

No other BD remote will work except for the PS3 specific one because it is bluetooth. IR remotes don't work out-of-the-box.

After using the controller for 5 minutes, I got a PS3 remote. I bought my PS3 for movies initially - and have moved into getting some games.

Loved my PS3 when I got - and they've been making it better ever since. But the remote is a must buy, imo.

I have heard a 3rd party (Nyko perhaps) makes a PS3 remote that has a usb Infrared receiver... and you can use this with a Harmony remote (I know this for a fact) and perhaps other universal remotes. May be worth trying to find one if you have a uni-remote.

Thnaks so much guys for all your help. Now I understand that I need to get the PS3 remote. Well, in this case I don't really need another remote control in da house. I already have a blu player. I will use the PS3 just for games. Again, you guys are awesome.

Default Using PS3 BD Remote on PC

I actually have got the PS3 BD Remote found on my Bluetooth adapter on my PC but it's requesting a security code and 0000 doesn't work?

Any suggestions to get this working with my Bluetooth on PC?

Unless someone's written something specifically for the PS3 BD Remote I don't think it'll work. It uses Bluetooth but not an industry standard communication spec, I'm not sure there even is one for Bluetooth media remotes.

It doesn't matter what the book says. I had the same issue when I purchased my PS3. You've got a few options though.

1. The Sony PS3 BD remote, which you're aware of.

2. use the PS3 controller, also not a big secret.

3. if you're like me and anal about having everything work from one remote then you can consider this new device...
