Default Latest updates for all U.S. standalone BD players

With the number of standalone BD players growing all the time now, keeping up with the latest firmware/software updates for individual players is getting harder and harder. So this is an attempt at having one thread that allows everyone to check and see if a new update is available for any standalone player (U.S. models only).

The latest firmware version and release date is listed to the right of each model number. The model number itself is a link to the manufacturer's support page for that player, where you can download the latest fimware/software for your player. Most updates are provided as a CD or DVD disc image which can be burned with most PC recording software.

Update: PS3 System Software 2.0 is now available. Sorry... no new Blu-ray goodies, though.

Thanks for the info. I'm new to firmware updates and have a quick question. Do the latest updates encompasse the previously released updates? For example, if a player is being updated for the 1st time but there have been numerous previous releases of firmware, does each one need to be updated in chronological order, or will the latest take care of all of the them?

Thanks

All of the current BD players (including the PS3) completely replace the firmware or system software with each update, so they do not need to be updated in any order. You may always just grab the latest update for your player and replace the existing firmware or software on the player with the newest. It's possible that a company could release a player that updates in the way a PC does, with "patches" to keep the existing firmware current, but that would lead to all kinds of problems, and hopefully no one will choose to go that route.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the great info. Sony's PS3 site is still showing 1.93 as the latest F/W version but I'm sure that when I turn on my PS3 whenever I get home that 2.0 will be downloaded automatically.

When I created this post, that link was badly out of date, without any of the newest firmwares. Now, it's much more up to date, though the SAmsung links are still old. Good to see they got back on this, however.

There is no need since Badass added it to the master list. And that post is.

This thread is 2 years old and is not up to date. Best thing is the check the manufacturer's website:

http://www.samsung.com/us/support/do...&menu=download

Or you can check this page although it's not always up to date:
