They seem to use the same design for the FACE of the TV when it's

I guess there is NO XBR 10, correct?. Why is Sony so secretive?
Lordy, they never stop creating new stuff, do they?
Totally Amazing Company.

XBR10 is back order on Sony website:

Looks very nice, thinking about selling my XBR9 and getting XBR10.

...and the first allocation goes to...

unauthorized (yet pretty decent) Sony Retailer

A friend of mine works there...he said Sony is fixing a last-minute issue and is getting stock ready to ship on or before Nov. 9. The Samsung B8500 is cleaning up and Sony desperately wants to get this out there ASAP.

Assuming $5,000USD for the XBR10 (which evidently uses edge-lit LED backlighting), I have to wonder if the XBR8 (which has full-LED backlighting), produces a more even and superior picture.

Default same question different spin xbr8 vs xbr9

I am almost ready to jump in a buy the sony xbr8 @ $2100, but now there is a deal for a xbr9 46" with a 560 blu ray and woofer/speaker tower for $1599.
This is a good deal so I'm back at the starting gate. Any opinions could help me finally take the leap.
Thanks

if you wanted the 10, what does the 9 with those other things have to do with it? if your willing to settle then it means you didn't want the 10 to begin with. with the exception of the blu-ray, none of those extras have anything to do with what you will see, only what you will hear. for the record, i wouldn't want the 560.

make up your mind about the tv, we are not going to watch it, you are. so first find out what you like about the 10 and see if they offer the same exact or better in the 9, i suspect that you won't but start there. if you think (be sure) your happy with the 9, well then there you go!

but don't let the extras sway you from the 10 if that's what you really want. UNLESS you don't have any of the other items that they are offering and you want to get them on the cheap.

make sure you make the right choice for you!
