2 questions about AVRs and sound

I just bought an Denon AVR-889 and some speakers. So far, I only have a 2.1 set of speakers. It is not set up yet, but it will be soon.

Question #1: I plan to plug a HDMI cable to output the BD player through the AVR into the the TV. Will I be able to have the sound come out from my TV speakers as well as the Home Theater speakers?

Question #2: Since I only have a 2.1 setup and that my AVR outputs 5.1, 6.1 and 7.1, will I be able to watch movies on my 2.1 speakers or I will lose too much audio?
