Default Enemies

Quote:
With a $25 million film budget, the Enemies‘ production offices will open in two weeks and filming will begin in June at locations throughout the Chicago area.

Sources say they are in talks with Austin Butler and Jeremy Allen White for the leading roles in what is being referred to as a spy vs. spy thriller.

As The Bear wraps the filming of Season 4, many of the crew members will roll right into working on this A24 project.

In the ever-evolving landscape of film production, A24’s key strengths lie in its ability to attract and support a diverse range of filmmakers and embrace unconventional narratives.

Established in 2012, the studio has become synonymous with boundary-pushing storytelling, collaborating with visionary directors who challenge cinematic norms.

A24 has carved out a niche as a powerhouse for independent filmmakers. From psychological horror to genre-bending spectacles the studio continues to redefine contemporary cinema.

Official announcement

Quote:
A24 had made official that which has already been out there in the ether: 2x The Bear Emmy winner Jeremy Allen White and Oscar nominated Austin Butler are leading Henry Dunham’s new crime saga Enemies.

Dunham is directing and writing. Cameras roll this summer in Chicago on the reported $25M production. In Enemies, a relentless detective and an infamous contract killer collide in a deadly game of cat and mouse.

Ari Aster and Lars Knudsen of Square Peg are producing alongside A24. Alejandro De Leon will also produce. Josh Bachove will executive produce.

Dunham previously directed the 2018 crime thriller The Standoff at Sparrow Creek which follows a former cop-turned-militia man who investigates a shooting at a police funeral

A24 and Aster have the filmmaker’s latest movie, a western set during Covid, world premiering in competition at Cannes, Eddington. Pic stars Pedro Pascal and Joaquin Phoenix. It’s the first time that Aster has hit the Croisette with a feature here.

Incredible news. I’m a massive fan of Henry Dunham’s first film, The Standoff at Sparrow Creek. I've been eagerly awaiting his next feature film. He's assembling quite a cast so far as well. Jeremy Allen White and Austin Butler are talented actors and good leads for a crime film. A24 is really nailing it. Can’t wait!

Emmy-winner Anna Sawai and Hidetoshi Nishijima are set to join the cast of the new A24 crime pic Enemies starring Austin Butler and Jeremy Allen White. Henry Dunham is writing and directing.

Ari Aster and Lars Knudsen of Square Peg are producing alongside A24. Alejandro De Leon will also produce. Josh Bachove will executive produce.

Sawai took the town by storm last year following her Emmy-winning performance in Shōgun, winning the Golden Globe for Actress in a Television Series – Drama, an Emmy for Lead Actress in a Drama Series and a SAG Award for Female Actor in a Drama Series.

Sawai is currently in production on (Saint) Peter, a coming-of-age dramedy executive produced by Peter Farrelly, and has recently wrapped production on the second season of Apple TV+’s Monarch: Legacy of Monsters. She can also be seen in Seasons 1 and 2 of the Apple TV+ adaptation of Pachinko; Justin Lin’s F9, the ninth installment of Universal’s The Fast and the Furious franchise; the Netflix/BBC series Giri/Haji; and James McTeigue’s Ninja Assassin for Warner Bros. She is shooting David Leitch’s next film How to Rob a Bank this summer.

Looking forward to this but I wish filmmakers would be more adventurous with their choice in titles.
