FINALLY! got a Ps3

I just got a ps3 today (the 80gb killzone2/mgs4 bundle)
Also purchased - ds3 controller - infamous and uncharted.

I got it from best buy they asked did i want the extended warranty for 59.99..which covered games...controllers..and ps3 for 2 years...they said i have 30 days to decide...Anyone do this and is it a good idea?

Also whats some other must have games to pick up? I seen gta IV for 39.99 might get that sometime this week.

I'm just happy to have a ps3 to go with my set up..And put my samsung blu-ray player up stairs

First off congrats on getting a PS3. Also, I would say go with the extended warranty because I didn't get the warranty with best buy and my ps3 got the yellow light and had to send it in to sony to get it fixed. Also what kind of genres are you into.

Nice. Welcome to the world of PS3. As far as the extended coverage, it's a good idea. I got my PS3 at Best Buy with the extended coverage when the PS3 was originally released, and although I've had no problems, it's better to be safe than sorry. There are lots of good games out there. The four you mentioned are all stellar. If you like FPSs, then Resistance: FoM and 2 are great. Dead Space is another fun game (it's a survival horror). And Bioshock, Little Big Planet, and Call of Duty 4 are also some other choices I'd recommend.

I have all of those and love them! for the most part they are either 7.1 or 5.1surround sound. you won't go wrong with any of them; imo!

Welcome and congrats on the PS3. I think for $60 the warranty is worth it. My first PS3 that I bought July of 2007 died within 8 mos. I didn't buy the ext. warramty at the time since it was $120 (due to the higher price tag on the PS3 at the time), but for $60 I think it's definitely worth it.

edit: By the way, I did pick up an extended warranty from Square Trade on my 2nd PS3 for around $49 I think (BB still wanted $99 when I bought it last Christmas). They seem to have a good rating & reviews, but I haven't had to use it (and hope I never have to). Just thought I'd mention it.

Thanks i will probably go back this weekend coming up and get the warranty then. I'm into all different styles of games really. I like games where you can do whatever you want like Grand theft autos and inFamous...But i also like uncharted and mgs4 alot too. Havent played killzone 2 yet. And i usually get sports games like madden and either nba live or 2k every year.

First off, I highly recommend purchasing the extended warranty because not only is it that you don't want to take chances, but it is better off to be covered should anything happen in the not too distant future. Second, great choice in purchasing Uncharted and inFamous of which I am sure you will not regret. Third, I highly recommend Resistance 1 and 2 along with Ratchet & Clank.

Well it depends on how responsible you are. If you are always careless, your stuff never last long, your stuff always gets tampered with. I suggest you get the warranty plan.

But if you are always careful with your stuff, don't get the warranty plan.

You should probably get Resistance, Dead Space, Call of Duty, Killzone 2, and if you like Uncharted then you probably might like Tomb Raider Underworld. Could also try out Prototype.

Welcome to the club. I will echo some above posts and recommend you buy the extended coverage. You just never know when you might need it. As far as games, I recommend you pick up Resistance and Resistance II. Both can be bought pretty low at this point and are great games IMO.

I'll voice a dissenting opinion and advise you against the extended warranty. If you, like most PS3 owners, have no problems with your console then the extended warranty is a waste of your $60. If you fall into the unfortunate minority of people who have their PS3 die after Sony's 1-year manufacturer warranty expires, then you can always have Sony do an out-of-warranty repair for $150. The $60 you would spend now is only insurance against the unlikely event that you would have to spend $150 later. Obviously it's your decision, but I think you might derive more enjoyment from spending the $60 now on another game (or a few blu-rays).

As for games, if you like open world type games then I would highly recommend Fallout 3 and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion; both are open world action RPGs.
