Films have gone through many phases when things cannot be shown due to public opinion on political interference.
Example being smoking. Once every star always had a cigarette until the late 70's. Now they are coming back into film with every action star sporting a cigar. For me, I have never been one for Torture and Rape. Both I find are unnecessary to SHOW on film and would be more than happy for it to be done off screen. What would you now consider taboo for the film industry or not want to see? |

For me it's always been when pets are killed in movies. I hate it when dogs are killed for no reason. Most of the time it affects me more than when people are killed in movies.
And, no, I'm not a member of PETA or a vegetarian. (Not that there's anything wrong with that.) I don't think things should be censored, either. It just upsets me, that's all. So, I guess I really don't consider it taboo, just more of a gripe. Last edited by SumSuperman; 07-13-2009 at 08:10 PM. |

You are totally right I know people who complain about video games and movies and music but they go out and buy that stuff for their kids

Don't think anyone is for torture and rape, but they are unfortunately realities of life and should shown as such in film. If it affected you then it served its purpose. |

I agree. One thing I'm curious about, a bit off topic, but why does Wal-Mart refuse to sell uncensored explicit CDs but has no problem selling movies like The Devil's Rejects unrated or Sex Drive unrated? Apparently it's alright to have a movie full of nudity and profanity but not alright to carry Green Day's new CD uncensored (which Green Day refused to edit and therefore isn't carried at Wal-Mart).

Censorship is not an issue with me as I do not believe it really enters our lives to a great extent, but how far can film makers go before we the public turn away in disgust?
Can a woman be seen during a rape? What about a dog being raped? Or a 5 year old girl? Is there a line that film makers should not cross and where is it. |
