Default What would you consider TABOO?

Films have gone through many phases when things cannot be shown due to public opinion on political interference.

Example being smoking. Once every star always had a cigarette until the late 70's. Now they are coming back into film with every action star sporting a cigar.

For me, I have never been one for Torture and Rape. Both I find are unnecessary to SHOW on film and would be more than happy for it to be done off screen.

What would you now consider taboo for the film industry or not want to see?

Children being murdered. (Rambo somehow was able to get away with this. )

Gay bashing.

Terrorists attacking America.

For me it's always been when pets are killed in movies. I hate it when dogs are killed for no reason. Most of the time it affects me more than when people are killed in movies.

And, no, I'm not a member of PETA or a vegetarian. (Not that there's anything wrong with that.)

I don't think things should be censored, either. It just upsets me, that's all. So, I guess I really don't consider it taboo, just more of a gripe.

Censorship is evil, yes I said it. If you don't want your kids to see something or play something, don't let them. Don't rely on other people to do for you what you should do yourself.

I'm fine with everything up to non-mammal bestiality.

Once you see a guy giving the action to an unsuspecting iguana it changes you.

I don't think anything is Taboo..its up to you to decide if you want to take a chance with it..

You can find many things on the internet of a Taboo nature, its up to the individual if they want to look for it..

AAAAAMEN to that !
It is up to each one to choose what we want to see or not, at least it should be so in a real free democracy.

Don't think anyone is for torture and rape, but they are unfortunately realities of life and should shown as such in film.

If it affected you then it served its purpose.

I agree. One thing I'm curious about, a bit off topic, but why does Wal-Mart refuse to sell uncensored explicit CDs but has no problem selling movies like The Devil's Rejects unrated or Sex Drive unrated? Apparently it's alright to have a movie full of nudity and profanity but not alright to carry Green Day's new CD uncensored (which Green Day refused to edit and therefore isn't carried at Wal-Mart).

Mondo Cane
Faces of death
Both were *entertaining* in a distorted way.

CP should be an instant death sentence, but pretty much anything else goes.

Censorship is not an issue with me as I do not believe it really enters our lives to a great extent, but how far can film makers go before we the public turn away in disgust?

Can a woman be seen during a rape? What about a dog being raped? Or a 5 year old girl?

Is there a line that film makers should not cross and where is it.

Actually the big issue here is, who believe he/she is wise enough to answer that question. In the end everyone have their opinion on that. What should not be accepted is when a group try to impose their views on everyone which is the case in our societies. Right now what you can and cannot see was imposed by those in power, in democracies following a certain (or uncertain) majority. in Dictatorships, following what the one in power decides, but in both cases it is wrong to impose on all the opinion of some.
