Default Your favorite Star Wars things besides the films?

Mine:

- The trilogy of novels written by Timothy Zahn: The Thrawn Trilogy. Simply the best non-film related Star Wars thing, IMO. The story takes place five years after Return of the Jedi.

- Some of the video games: Knights of the Old Republic (I and II) and Jedi Outcast.

- I also like some of the comic books, like Legacy for example, but they've written way more drivel over the years than good stories.

What are yours???

Shadows of the Empire. The whole thing. The score by Joel McNeeley is terrific. The novel and comic book were great. The game kicked ass. The toys were cool.

Dark Forces PC Game Series. From Dark Forces to Jedi Academy, these are the best Star Wars games, bar none. The multiplayer maps for Jedi Knight were legendary, including all of the fan made ones.

All of the art and making-of books. The Star Wars Universe is so vast and it feels so populated and lived in that it makes it so easy to get lost in it, both inside the stories and outside learning about the production and art it has inspired.

The toys and collectibles. I've been collecting for decades and love the thrill of the hunt and displaying them.

The Expanded Universe novels, particularly those of the early- to mid-1990s, when they still actually felt like Star Wars stories. My favorites are The Thrawn Trilogy, The Han Solo Trilogy, Shadows of the Empire and (from the late-70s/early-80s) The Han Solo Adventures.

Also, Dark Horse Comics' first Dark Empire mini-series and their most recent Star Wars ongoing that ran 20 issues. Great stuff.

For video games, I've only ever played a few. Dark Forces for the PC and Shadows of the Empire for N64, both of which my brother and I played the heck out of. I also bought Rogue Squadron for N64 about ten years ago and really enjoyed it, but never finished it. However, my favorite is Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy. Man, that game was fun! I need to rebuy it on PS3 to enjoy again.

The video game stories like the Force Unleashed are great.

I also had some Star Wars books that chronicled Obi-Wan's early Jedi days with Qui-Gon Jinn which were awesome.

I loved the "Star Wars Trilogy Arcade" video game, and I'm still ticked they never ported it to any of the home systems. The graphics and sound were incredible, but i never got very far in it.

I also enjoy the few autographs I have from some of the actors, and the signed Thrawn books from Timothy Zahn...

I am going to have to say the toys from the original films. Me, my brother and our neighor had a blast making up our own adventures as kids in the 1980's. I still have pieces of them in the attic, we got our parent's money worth out of them.

A lot of the video games are cool. Particularly, Bounty Hunter and the Battlefront games.

Hell yeah. It was awesome. People still play it too!

Did you ever play Jedi Knight online? I think the fan created map was called Jedi High School. I played that map so much. And a fan made a near perfect recreation of the Duel of the Fates inside the Theed hangar and power generator room. So much fun.

Yes, DFII: Jedi Knight was my favorite game for the longest time. I even had all the tools to make my own levels with their own textures and everything (never did get the hang of scripts and 3D objects back then, but the game had enough to work with).

Jedi Outcast became my favorite of the series later; the fighting was very sublime, and I enjoyed the story. Jedi Academy was great too.

If there's any other games that really top my list, it'd be TIE Fighter, Rebellion, and both of The Force Unleashed. Star Wars Racer could be a guilty pleasure of mine too.

Yeah, the Pod Racer game was sick. The sense of speed was really terrific and the levels were brilliantly designed.

Oh, I miss Lucasarts...

Knights of the Old Republic I & II and Jedi Academy & Jedi Outcast.

I had those games on the original XBOX and I still have both KOTOR games on the PC. KOTOR II was unfinished because the studio was forced to release it early but with the restoration mod the game feels complete and I rank it a little higher than the first one but overall they are both my favourite RPGs.

D'oh! How could I forget Kenner's original toy line?! In my opinion, the greatest toy line ever produced. At one point in my childhood, I had nearly every single major figure, vehicle and playset released. These days, I still have about a dozen or so of my original figures and Luke's landspeeder, and a Millennium Falcon I bought at a flea market in the mid-90s.

I had this book checked out of my grade school library weekly when I was a younger. I loved this book!
