So, who here watches these movies? I admit to watching them quite a bit cause the title and the plot of some of them sound intriguing but once the movie starts, the movie becomes so horribly bad it's not even worth finishing half the time. Honestly, if any of these ever hit Blu Ray, would anyone ever buy them?
I think Sci-Fi Channel is like the Highway Department, they have a budget set for the year and if they don't use it all, that's less they get the next year. How they produce quality TV like Battlestar Galactica, Eureka and Stargate SG1 & Atlantis escapes me. I watched Rock Monster on Saturday and my wife, who usually watches these to humor me had to leave the room because it was so bad. Sadly, the movie is left open for a sequel. Ugh! What are some of the more memorable titles some of you might have watched? How many of them have you actually liked? This thread could also serve as feedback for the weekly Sci Fi Channel Saturday Night Premiere movie. Next up is Insatiable. Last edited by SeahawxBlu; 05-16-2008 at 04:09 PM. |

I must admit that Kraken:Tentacles of the Deep wasn't THAT overly bad. But lately, the offerings have been mostly miss, although none of them were as bad as Rock Monster.

Have to admit that most of them suck, but Dagon wasn't bad. Sasquatch wasn't bad either, much better than its sequel Sasquatch Hunters.

I have not liked a single one of their made for SciFi movies. That includes Earthsea, Tin Man and Dune. Their Saturday Horror stuff particularly sucks. I gave up watching them a year or so ago. Sometimes I wish they would just show some old movies and TV series like they used to do years ago.

I usually just stop on it when I see they are having a Twilight Zone marathon (even though I have them all on DVD) and once they had a "Lost In Space" marathon....that was pretty cool because I don't own those, and haven't seen too many of them..........
The scary things that Dr. Smith would have done to poor little Will Robinson if he got the chance......... Pervert..... |

I have DirecTV and watch the SciFi Channel in HD, mainly for Battlestar Galactica episodes, since none of them are available on Blu-ray yet. Bye the way, Friday, April 04th. the fourth and final season begins st 10:00 pm . Leading up to the opening episode of the final season is the entire 3rd. season.
As far as movies there, I'm not impressed. I simply buy what I want on DVD or Blu-ray. [Jim] Last edited by JimPullan; 03-25-2008 at 08:02 PM. Reason: typo |

Rumor had it that there was going to be a mini on Sci-Fi that served as a sequel to John Carpenters "The Thing".
For a while all systems were go...then it just sort of died. I watched about 10 minutes of Rock Monster and all 10 minutes lived up to all my expectations. |

I started to watch Tin Man (I know technically it's a mini series). I guess I just didn't get it. I'm all for re-imaginings and whatnot but my god, some of the stuff they came up with was just absurd and really distracted from the story. I never finished watching it.

They do seem to do some things well. Like the series Dark Angel, X-Files, Battlestar Galactica, Star Trek TNG, and so on. But the movies they show don't live up to the quality of their series offerings. [Jim]

I kinda like the ones with the overgrown beasts, although you know what you're in for. Supercroc was very bad as was Sabretooth. And there's Grizzly Rage. This one actually made you pull for the bear.

Another disappointing title for me was Ogre. I was just waiting for one of the cast to mention Shrek, but they never did. John Schneider should stay off the Sci Fi Channel for a while. Lake Placid 2 was his last movie there and that one didn't fare too well either.

So what did anyone think of Insatiable? I felt like Michael Biehn was wasted in this and Sean Patrick Flannery has done better, but overall it was a so-so movie which I might check out on video cause it looked like there was a bunch of stuff cut out.
I also get the feeling that Insatiable 2 might be in the works. I'm not holding out any hope that 10.5: Apocalypse will be any better, but I'll probably end up watching it. |
