So I went to Walmart to pick up True Blood last Tuesday, a few days before the Season2 premiere.
I have never bought a Blu at Walmart before (I by almost exclusively from AMZ), and I never will again. My second disc out of the five was missing from the package. I immediately returned to customer service to request a refund, so I could order it from AMZ. They said I am "required" to accept an exchange for another copy. Turns out, they didn't have any other copies in stock. Then I wanted my refund. The assistant manager told me they can't refund for open box items. She said they will not refund it. Than, I told her that she was breaking the law. Walmart is entering into a selling-buying agreement with me to sell me a 5-disc set of the True Blood Season 1 on Blu-ray, in exchange for my $49 or so. By only providing 4 out of 5 discs to me, they have effectively stolen part of my money, and if they did not refund it, I threatened to grab one of the policemen in the plaza outside and file a report. She then told me, the best the Walmart can do is order me a replacement copy and call me when it comes in. She told me to hold onto my defective copy and my receipt and bring them back when it comes in. I did not trust her. I told her I would call VISA and ask them to stop payment if she did not refund me the money. She told me to go ahead, because it is not Walmart's policy to refund open items. I left that night with my defective copy and my receipt, called VISA to have them stop payment, and they said they wouldn't do it, because Walmart should refund the money themselves, and I'm guessing VISA didn't want to lose their commission. So anyway, a week later, this past Tuesday, I get a call that my replacement copy has come in. I make my way to electronics at Walmart to find that they ordered me a DVD version, not Blu ray. I was furious, and they tried to pass it off as the Blu-Ray by putting a returned item sticker over the DVD insignia on the side of the box. I demanded to speak to the general manager, who wasn't around the first time I went there. He met me and told me that it is Walmart's policy not to refund opened items, and recommended I contact HBO about a replacement disc. I filed a police report that night about the whole incident. I got a call from the district manager the next day, telling me I could come to the store to receive my replacement on Blu-Ray, and that they would be crediting the full value to my CC, so I got the Blu-Ray for free essentially. Lesson learned - complain about everything when you can. |

Nice to get a free copy, but probably not worth the hassle. That's a big reason I buy almost all my Blu-rays on Amazon. If there's a problem they are good at fixing it, although over the last year their customer service has started to slip.

I bought Weeds seasons 1 thru 4 from them last week and got home to open them all and season 3 had 2 disc 2's inside of the case. So I went back up there and customer service had me check electronics for another copy, which they didn't have so I went back to customer service and they refunded me my money with no problem. So for them to say they couldn't refund you your money was wrong on their end.

I have never had this problem. I know most store will only replace opened movies or music because they are too easy to copy or watch then return. I have on occasion at BB and Walmart had issues where the product was defective and they did not have the item or all the items turned out to be defective so they just refunded my money. I wonder if them stores have a database they access to check refund history of customer regardless of the stores and somehow rate ya based on your refund history.

Their CS is a bunch of idiots anyway. Even the people who work there don't know what a blu-ray disc is. I hate calling them because no one picks up their phone. Also they have lack of selection, and if you're lucky they have just 1 in stock that's either damaged (case/art cover) or it's been exchanged or opened.
I still shop there because of the "lower price", but if I had a problem similar to your situation. I would of waited until they received a new shipment of True Blood, and hold your receipt and "defective" item and hold off on any refund request. That's how I would of dealt with it. |

I"m a bit confused on the Visa issue, Did you actually use your Visa to purchase True Blood Blu-ray or did you use Cash?
If you did use Visa to pay then that doesn't say to much for them if they won't get involved in a situation like this, but on the other hand if you did use cash, then obviously they would have nothing to do with the "Cash" transaction. |

Well that plain stinks then..... If the merchant refuses to credit back your Visa then you think that in a case like this that Visa would step in and make them do it. What did Visa say when you told them they refused to credit your Visa card?
Well suddenly I don't feel to safe as far as my credit cards go. |

The frick they are! I got a disc from a guy in Germany that was damaged in shipping (I mean the thing is in pieces) and paypal's reply to my claim was sorry we don't get involved in quality issues. After 6 emails and 3 phone calls they still refuse to refund my money and honor their guarantee policy.

As long as a seller has a record of a package being delivered then PayPal is done with the matter. Someone can send you a turd in a box with delivery confirmation when you were you were supposed to receive a brand new sealed widget and PayPal is done with the matter. Case closed, the end. The only thing PayPal is good for is taking their cut of the cash flow! |
