I looked at some reviews and specifications on both models but could hardly tell the difference. So I decide to ask my blu-ray.com peers. Tell me the technical differences between the two. All I want is fast loading, no freezing, a little bd-live, wifi(required), and a long lasting BD player; since I was forced to sell my PS3.......again.
Excuse my laziness, I did a search and found thousands of threads so I didn't want to browse through every one. |

There's really not much difference between the S360 and S560. Performance-wise, they appear to be identical.
WiFi is about the only major difference, and that's on the S560, so your choice is an easy one since WiFi was on your priorities list. The S560 evidently has S-Video out as well. Both units decode advanced HD audio (and send through HDMI). Neither have 7.1 analog RCA output jacks (just 2-channel stereo). So, no multichannel analog output to an older, non-HDMI receiver for lossless/uncompressed audio compliancy. Both are BD Profile 2.0 players, so they are both BD-Live capable. |

According to Sony's product page for the S560, it works with "most home wireless routers" via 802.11N/G/B/A wireless protocol.
Click this link to the Sony BDP-S560 product page. The site is saying that the S560 will not be available until August, so keep that in mind. |

I do have an exising wireless router. Can I hook one of the models up with WiFi just like a PS3 with a simple WEP code? Trying to be more specific.

Although some people have reported success with using a wireless "adapter" on a network-equipped BD player, it seems to be more problematic. The S560 will be only $50 more than the S360. A price difference worth spending to get the (up to Wireless N) WiFi built in the player (albeit not available for about a month).
Remember, the S360 does NOT have WiFi (only ethernet). Only the S560 has WiFi (along with ethernet). Every wireless router has WEP code security. I'm not exactly sure if any available WiFi BD player models will allow secure wireless networking - maybe someone else can confirm. |
