Welcome to the forum. Actually I own the same Model. I think it is worth the money. To be honest I think it would be best to start and only keep Samsung's product. they are pretty good. and reliable.

First welcome to the forum. Second this is the exact same tv we have in our Sears store and its beautiful which makes me want it so bad. But I am a Sony fan so I am torn between the XBR9 and the Samsung. If you have the chance to get the Samsung UN55B7100 you cant go wrong but you may also want to look at the Sony XBR9 as well.

I am also a Sony Fan when it comes to LCD's...but it seems you can't go wrong with either of the above listed sets. Sony and Samsung are both top-notch. Good luck and let us know which one you decide on.

it depends how u watch your movies as samsung has the shiny screen so reflections come into it if you watch with curtains open.

Both are great TVs as everyone has mentioned but if your not getting it until next year, there will probably be a better one out by then.

colors are more vivid, blacks are blacker, less energy consumption than a plasma.

if you're gonna drop nearly 3K on a set, I'd look into the Panasonic 54'' V10 (my next set). IMO.

Hellwolf have you seen it up close? If you like it, get it! Can't go wrong with a Sammy or a Sony!
