Default Home Theater Version 1.1 (Upgrades)

I recently made some changes to my HT in the areas of BD/DVD storage and amplification. In order to fund the new purchase, I sold my Denon DVD-5910CI (overkill when one considers that my Oppo BDP-83 upconverts DVDs just as well).

Check out my new gallery with the same title as this thread. Please feel free to comment. Enjoy!

I have the same Panny plasma and will be wall mounting it in the next few weeks. I was wondering if you could share some dimensions of your cabinet, center speaker and mounting height so I have an idea of where I should start looking at the mounting.

BTW, nice setup.

Thanks! The power produced by the Marantz MM8003 is amazing. Clarity and definition in soundtracks and music are much improved, and bass now has the extra "umph" I so desired. My next upgrade will be an isolation platform for the subwoofer, as it rattles the walls now!

Thanks! You mention that you wish to wall mount the same plasma. In my HT, the base of the TV is approximately 35" off of the floor with the bottom of the mount wall bracket at approximately 47" off of the floor. The top of center channel speaker on the stand sits at 33" off of the floor, providing a clearance of 2" between center channel and the bottom of the plasma. You might want more space, but I find the two inch difference perfect for my viewing preferences. Hope this information helps. Enjoy!

I'd be lying if I said that your home theater color scheme/setup weren't used as inspiration for mine.

Thanks for the information. The top of my new center should be around 41" from the floor, which, coincidentally, is the same as the fronts.

So based on your measurements and my calculations, I should have the bottom of my TV at around 42-43" from the floor. That will put the center of my screen at about 57-58". I need to really sit down once I get the center channel to see what the minimum I need to mount the TV at. I just measured and the actual viewable part of the TV is already 35" from the floor. That would mean that I may only have to raise the TV another 8 inches versus 12+ inches.

Now is the time I wish I went for the wall mount and a lower profile cabinet. The wife will not let me replace this cabinet and I know I will not get anywhere near what I paid for it. I just wish I would have thought harder about my future design.

Anyway, your setup looks really good!

I'm glad that you found the information I provided useful. Make sure that you post pictures again when your upgrades have arrived (especially those B&Ws!)

All of your components are great.....

I don't have any hands-on time with those speakers....

I love the clean look. I am a big fan of Wall-Mounted displays, but don't have one myself (Wife!)

I looked at that CDP for quite awhile when I was shopping for a new one.

So after seeing your amp..I think I'll pair that amp with my 5003 setup for living room. I'll get something else for my bedroom.

Thanks! I've been a loyal fan of Atlantic Technology for years. I had their system 170 for quite some time, and then decided to upgrade to something more powerful...hence the 350/370 series for my front soundstage. What CD player did you eventually decide to purchase? I have no complaints about the CD5003...it has revealed detail on CDs that I never knew existed.
