Question What constitutes a "different" SteelBook

With yet another T2 Blu-ray SteelBook now announced in Germany, the concept of different and unique has been diluted once again. In your opinion, what constitutes a "different" SteelBook? Would having different UPC or release from a different country suffice or does unique content or external supplement (such as post cards, poster, or book) necessary. Or do you consider same movie release not different even if they have different cover or content?

To me the UPC makes the Steel different.

Cheers,

I consider the actual SteelBook when collecting them, not the additional contents, upc sticker, or location where it came from. If the artwork is different on the metal, then I consider it to be a different steelbook because quite simply, it is a different steelbook. If Germany's T2 winds up being the exact same as the others, then imho, it is the same steelbook as all the others. Hell, they probably printed them all up at the same time since the markings for the steelbooks for all these varying countries are identical on the T2 cases. Adding a back cover, different upc, extra cards, etc. simply makes it unique and specific to that country it is being released. If I was simply counting them up, then I would still consider each separate T2 since they are actual different releases, but I see them as identical when it comes to how I collect them. I actually like this idea also of the same steelbook available from different parts of the world; makes it much easier to obtain.

Same. I bought 2 different Dark Knight steels because of the different cover art, but I would never buy all of the T2 steels that all seem to have the same cover art.

Cover art and if maybe if there was something different about the movie like a directors cut on one and not the other.

For me it would be a different cover art, but I would get a different countries copy of that title if the extra footage or special features were different even though it had the same cover.
I dont care about art cards or extenal supplements unless it's really a stunning extra.

For me, this was a toss up as there is part of me the thinks that a different UPC consitutes a different steelbook, but as it has been mentioned, some releases are a different UPC on the outside packaging, but if you were to open the steelbook you would find the same UPC for the same release from the same country. In this case I am speaking specifically about the FNAC vs amazon.fr releases such as Body of Lies & Gran Torino.

However, the recent release of the German Gran Torino threw another wrench into the mix. I obtained my copy from a retailer in Switzerland and it has the same cover art and UPC as the release from amazon.de, but amazon.de has different exterior packaging.

I hence voted for the different packaging. I do not know if I will continue to acquire "every" steelbook made due the plethora of multi-country releases with the same artwork, but then again I just might.

The waters are very muddy on this issue right now and I think it will be a lot of to each his own on this topic with no definative answer coming forth anytime soon.

Well I married mine and that was one of the ways I keep her quiet. I "crashed" on one before this one, and no that is not where the username comes from
