Default Wii: Pay to browse the web. Ridiculous.

No it's not April fools.

It looks like new Wii owners will have to pay another $60 a year or $300 over the 5 year life of a console to just surf the web on their Wii...

Everyday the PS3 gets cheaper in comparison since I can browse for free with the built-in browser...Wii charges you now, 360 doesn't allow it - MS approved content only please.

Its just a one time fee. And isnt 500 points like 5 bux?

Yeah, sorry I may have picked up the monthly bit from some comments or I just misread something. I usually double-check to make sure I get my facts right so I apologize.

I had calculated the $60 based on it being a monthly download fee over a year so yes it was $5 that added up over time.

Can someone lock or close this thread?

thats kinda rediculous for Wii consumers.. besides...isnt surfing the web for computers :P personally i dont think id PAY to surf the web on a game console with a control that may be harder to use than a keyboard/mouse :P anyways i have nothing agaisnt the Wii i love nintendo. but i def. wouldnt pay not even with sony ps3 to "browse" the web.
