Default Anyone else like me?

I was a guy who, despite being a movie buff, for some reason never really cared for owning DVDs. I don't know why, I just didn't. I would download all of my movies, watch them, love them, and that would be that. I own about, what, 10 DVDs? But, ever since I got a HDTV and a PS3, I've become really interested (maybe even obsessed?) with owning Blu-Rays. I started buying Blu-Rays in April and now my Blu-Ray collection is already larger than my DVD collection. Hell, I've almost stopped buying video games too (now only buying games that I really, really want). There's something terribly exciting about seeing films in high definition, and I think, maybe, just maybe, the blue packaging of these Blu-Ray cases are eye catching and scream "Buy me!" Definitely more so than the kind of large red cases of HD-DVDs (probably why HD-DVD lost the war haha). I can't help but look at the Blu-Ray section of stores when I get the chance! Haha, anyways I guess I'm mostly wondering if there are other people here who are more active in buying Blu-Rays than they were with DVDs?

I’m right there with you man. I must be addicted to blu-rays because my knows exactly what to get me every birthday/x-mas, my friend call me the “blu-ray guy”, and I get really excited and ancy every Tuesday. The blue cases really are eye catching and I love all the web-based content, not to mention the HD picture.

I never really liked DVD, got a bunch of them though. I have none now(movies anyway) and I'm starting to hit the wall a bit blu-ray buying. So glad there's probably about 100 movies coming out soon that I'll get so I can keep momentum.

Even the name Blu-Ray is exciting. It rolls off the tongue much better than DVD

I'm not like you, thank goodness. But I do buy tons of BDs. Not more than I ever did on DVD though.

Downloading movies will always be a niche thing here in the states.

Proud to have my (dwindling now) DVD collection and my (growing) BD collection.

I guess I'm in the minority of this thread. I have several hundred DVD's. I've been a big movie buff for a long time and I started buying DVD's when very few owned a player. My first player in fact was a DVD ROM that I purchased for my computer...on sale for $120 at the time.

That along with my ATi All-In-Wonder 128 video card that allowed hardware accelerated DVD playback with output to my TV...pretty advanced stuff for the time since most video cards didn't playback DVD's well at all. I remember standalone players being $400 back then.

My best friend got one for $300 on sale and he was the only other person I knew with DVD's for quite some time. Now I buy a lot of Blu's and I've even replaced numerous DVD's with the Blu version where the upgrade was significant.

i had like 60 or 70 dvds 30 or 40 laserdiscs over 15 year period. i have like 200 blurays in a 2 year period, it is absolutely addicting watching high definition versions of the films. often times the quality surpasses the theater film version due to dirty scratched prints, poor projector maintanence, old bulbs, sound system issues. cant get enough of em.

I can relate...when I started getting into movies began with beta then VHS then laserdisc came around and became addicted to DVds. I have spent lots of money and now its hard to break away from Blu-ray, tend to be more selective with my movies especially it there is not a good transfer I will not buy.
