Default Panasonic 800U or the V10?

I might be able to swap Plasma with Panasonic in the next coming weeks and I want to know what would be a better set! I have the 800U now 4 almost a year. I looked on Panasonics web site and they are selling the 50PZ800U for $2,499 and the brand new V10 is only $2199, So why is the 800U more? It doesnt have the "Flicker" issue with it being 96hz and it has newer processers.. So whats the deal?

Thx

Geeez, that's a great question. I have a 58-800u and love it, but I've been wondering the same thing.

Not sure what you mean by "swap" since you include pricing.

If it costs you nothing out of pocket, then why not get the newer set.

Although I love my 850 and not sure I would swap it with anything right now. The "flicker" doesn't bother me at all and no one has ever complained or mentioned any flickering while watching and programs.

If you're asking why the V10s are cheaper - technology progresses, prices settle. Flat panel TVs are still settling.

The V10 is everything the 800u was (in most cases, more) except in one area - the built-in speakers aren't even close to that of the 800u. The 800u had "subwoofers" built in...they did a pretty nice job with the low end. The V10 does not. The 800u sounded fantastic for a tv. The V10 sounds like a tv.

Under what circumstances are you getting a swap?

It does in fact have the flicker issue when running 24p. And i would figure you could find that tv for much cheaper than $2,400. i got mine in december for $1700 shipped..

*Edit - just looked at stuff, your right, tv has jumped in price. my mistake..

I think he meant that the flicker issue no longer exists in the V10 when running 24p @ 96 Hz, which is correct.

Then you'd be more than satisfied. The flicker is one of the more major improvements, but there are many more. A lot more stuff to play with in the menus...ethernet for Viera Cast...more efficient...600Hz sub-field...thinner overall design...

I will say that I don't like where they put the inputs. I like them closer to the middle so you can't readily see them when you walk by, but they're out at the right side on the V10 (and probably the G15...maybe even others). O well.

Dude, have you considered the Pioneer 500M monitor?!? Right now you can get it here for 1649.00.

http://www.eastcoasttvs.com/index.ph...plasma-tv.html

Keep in mind that it's just a monitor so you have to buy the stand separately (399.99) and it doesn't have speakers but the thing is, the 500M's actually incorporate the Pioneer 10g technology that was supposed to go into the 09 Kuros. They say the PQ is actually a little better than on the 9g Elites! If you dont' mind that it doesn't have speakers, it's quite possibly the best deal going right now and you will have hands down the best flat screen on the market!

Default Panasonic Plasma l 2008 & 2009

Hello

Panasonic dramatically reduced pricing for the 2009 models when they were released earlier this year.

Additionally, pricing was reduced several hundred dollars for several models recently.

These two factors have resulted in significantly lower pricing of the current 2009 models compared to the 2008 models.

Regardless, the 2009 models have been significantly improved over the 2008 models.

Thank You

Seriously, the V10 for sure. I have one, and it is fantastic. I have seen the V10 and the 800 side by side, and the V10 is better. Maybe it is personal preference, but I could not be happier with my purchase, even if I had gone with Pioneer....

Does anyone know how much the 65" V10 is going to be? I was thinking of possibly getting a 60" Kuro in the future but this sounds like a pretty sweet TV

Until a month ago, I had the 46" 800u on the wall where the 50" V10 is now. I never expected a huge difference in overall PQ, but holy crap. The V10 isn't even broken in or calibrated and it's a huge improvement...and the 800u was fantastic. All I did was turn off the processing features, dial down the brightness/sharpness/gamma for break-in...and HDTV is amazing.

Then I threw A Bug's Life in the Blu Ray...damn. Jaw dropping quality. 24p is flicker-free @ 96Hz. Also, I'm glad they left 48Hz in as an option, because for some movies I can see myself choosing that. Much closer to the real cinema experience...and I'm not sure, but it almost seemed to have a deeper 'feel' then 96Hz.

I scored huge with this thing.

I'll say again, the speakers are crap compared to the 800 series. But who cares?

I'm loving this tv! I can't wait to calibrate it.
