I'm thinking about selling my pc, getting a laptop, and switching to an AT&T 3G aircard.Right now I'm on Hughes satalite which blows chunks, but it's the only thing I can get in my area.
I'm wondering if I do that, what are my options for getting online with the PS3? Will I have to get one of those usb drive things, download from the laptop, then take it to the PS3? I know at&t offers a usb version of the aircard, would that work in a ps3 too? Thanks for any help. |

As a person who uses and sets up aircards for folks here at work... don't expect too much. They blow. If satellite isn't too hot for you, you may want to look into wireless networks- there's a few rurally here in Wisconsin and Illinois that people use that aren't too bad.
Anyway, you could enable internet connection sharing on the laptop and connect to it either via a router or whatever. I really think you'll be unhappy with the performance though and would recommend other options. |

http://www.gizmosforgeeks.com/2007/0...adband-router/ although if you are thinking of gaming with this connection forget about it, if only downloading updates, ps3 store content, will be ok. Last edited by kevinbr100; 11-19-2008 at 11:10 PM. |

Hi guys. I also live out in the "boonies" and have (and hate) wild blue satellite internet. Would a Yagi directional antenna pointed to a 3G cell tower be a viable option with a 3g router for my PC? Would I hard wire it into my PC via ethernet cable or make my house a "hotspot". Thanks for all the help. Dan
