Wow, in an unexpected move, 2 of Michael Flannigan's Netflix series are being released in a double-feature Blu-ray collection set: The Haunting of Bly Manor and The Haunting of Hill House.

I think this is a brilliant strategy and I really hope this paves the way for MIDNIGHT MASS to be released on Blu-ray.

Being released? This is sitting on my shelf right now.. came out 2 years ago.

I don't think people realize that it being on Netflix doesn't really matter. I'm sure there's something to keep them from coming out within a certain period of time so Netflix is the only place to get them, but Netflix didn't actually produce the shows, they just were who picked them up and aired them. Paramount made the shows, and the production studio retains home video rights. The same way that The Crown is released by Sony and Umbrella Academy is released by Universal. Paramount's Jack Ryan shows on Prime.

The double feature isn't new though, Hill House came out individually in 2019 and Bly Manor as well as the 2 series collection in 2021.

Unfortunately, Midnight Mass was produced solely by Flanagan's production company Intrepid Pictures, so Netflix probably "owns" it as the distributor in the same way they own Stranger Things... so it likely won't get a disc release unless Netflix partners up with somebody like Shout or Criterion decides to start doing TV shows.
