Default Any harddisk replacement technology coming up?

All this Blu ray stuff is great and all, but i'm just curious is there any kind of new technology being created that is hoping to take over from the normal hard drives we have at the moment? With larger storage space and faster speeds maybe? Or is this technology of magnetic media set to stay around for a long time yet?

Anyone know of anything?

hard drive is here to stay as it's hard to beat it on price and performance and there are some new methods to increase its performance. However big thing coming up is solid state or flash storage. It will likely replace hard drives in all the mobile devices and future hard drives may integrate them also as a kind of hybrid storage
