Question Updated concert wish lists

Now that we have Netflix streaming, Pandora, BD Live, Amazon, Youtube streaming, etc. I really hope some of these bands will recognize Blu-Ray as a new, burgeoning market. Aside from the fact that this music deserves to be seen/heard at its best.

Concert for George (I still watch this about once every couple months)
Eagles Farewell Australia
Pink Floyd Pulse
Concert for NY (even if trimmed to the Who, Billy Joel, McCartney, Bowie etc.)
The Who - something recent or perhaps combined with the VH1 Rock Honors
Paul McCartney - Live in Red Square
MTV Unplugged - Clapton/Nirvana/Aerosmith etc. if the source is good enough
Metallica - center stage setup would be great for this format and in surround
Judas Priest Memphis 1982. I want to hear Rob on Victim of Changes in 5.1
Genesis - seems to be made for Blu Ray
Cowboy Junkies
More Soundstage/Live at Abbey Road recordings

What did I forget? I'm sure there are plenty I missed. As an aside after hearing "Love" in 5.1 I really hope there will be a 5.1 option on Beatles remasters now or in the near future.

You most likely forgot plenty more, as there have been hundreds of great concert DVD releases in the years gone by. Chances are that most of these will never see a Blu-ray transfer (at least not in the near future). However, I think that the probability of new concerts making it to the Blu-ray format is fairly high. We can only hope anyway!

Over 30% of my BD collection consists of Concert BD's and I'm always on the lookout for a new release. My most recent purchase was the Eric Clapton & Steve Winwood: Live From Madison Square Garden and next up is the new John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers: 70th Anniversary.

The title I want more than anything on BD is Pink Floyd: The Wall. Maybe soon, but I've heard no rumblings about it yet.

John

Grateful Dead, View from the Vault series needs to be brought to Blu, in addition to them needing to start releasing new ones...... #4 came out FOREVER ago!!!!!

I'd like "JEMP" and other small studios to release stuff in Blu-ray too.... but with lesser known bands, they have to get studio support from wherever they can, so it's not likely anytime soon.

+1 on the Greatful Dead material, however some of those recording are pretty bad, wonder how they could clean them up if at all?

Also wouldn't mind seeing some Zappa stuff come to life.

I like Zappa.... but the DVD's out there are all crap..... "Does Humor Belong in Music" is the only decent concert one of the bunch...... Quite disappointing, since I never got to see him live

I'd love to see it on Blu-ray.

I don't know if it was filmed or not, but SUPERTRAMP: Live in Paris would be fantastic!

Thumbs up Good catches

Supertramp and Yessongs live would be great as well.

I got the Bluesbreakers concert last wk. It was good - any more Clapton like the Cream reunion or even better - the Yardbirds would be great.

There is also so much good indie/small commercial music perfect for 5.1 / blu ray like Jem, Brandi Carlile, Nicole Atkins, Great Big Sea, etc. I want it all. Flamenco, Vivaldi, Gould, imagine the possibilities.

Been anxiously awaiting this release, but it's nowhere to be found at any B&M here in Toronto. Will have to order it online at some point. I saw John Mayall in Montreal at the old Capitol Theatre in the mid-seventies. I beleive he had just released either his "Room To Move" or "Jazz/Blues Fusion" album. I thought it was fantastic...my ex fell asleep! LOL!

i have the jarre in china which was filmed in hi def and has a dts thx soundtrack

the picture on dvd is superb upscaled but i think it cries out for a 7.1 soundtrack

also anything Floyd and being a huge Kiss fan absolutely anything at all as long as it is loud

as an aside does anyone have the rush disc and is it good, never got inyto them and apart fron the obvious spirit of radio couldnt even list one other track but classic rock had a free dvd with the afore mentioned spirit and it looked very good ta

Default Rush

I rented the Rush Snakes and Arrows.

It was an excellent performance and well filmed/mixed. There was a lot of new music so if you just want to hear classics some were missing.

Some very bizarre/funny extras including Jerry Stiller for some reason.

Listed above were many of the titles I was already thinking.

Metallica: S&M - #1 pick (insert getting on knees for prayer here)
Rammstein: Volkerball (Nobody probably knows or cares, but I thought I would share)
Pearl Jam Pearl Jam: Live At The Garden
Alice in Chains: MTV Unplugged
Red Hot Chili Peppers: Live at Slane Castle

Wow!
There's definitely some "elders" here. Pink Floyd? Eagles? Hhmn.
I'd rather have Korn. Oh wait... got it. I'll take Nine Inch Nails too. Oh wait... got it as well.
How about Papa Roach? Three Days Grace? Seether?
Not to knock all your' stuff, but I'd rather see something fairly current.
I do like these choices but, holy cow that stuff's old! I'm not saying irrelevant, just old. Why use new tech for old stuff? I understand preference, but isn't there anything worthy that wasn't from the 60's and 70's?
I know some of you may be insulted, but I'll buy what I want as it comes out.

Why, because a lot of it is really good music, that was well recorded, and was the foundation for much of the more "modern" music. By the way, many of these artists are and were very talented and wrote and recorded music that is considered classic today. Many of these artists recorded progressive kinds of music that are not continued today; some of it was thought provoking, and transcendental. Let us see how many of the present day artists will be remembered 20, 30, 40, and 50 years later.

Another thing to consider is that many of us "elders" have been involved with audio and now HT and Blu-ray for a very long time. So, if you had to guess, who do you think tends to have the better sounding audio systems?

Rich
