Im so tired of my shit breaking.It Just died again and after spending a Hour on the phone there just gona fix it and send it back .Instead of giving me new one just going to break over and over again.Iam really thinking about buying the Ps3.I dont want to feal like an idiot having the stand alone and the PS3 there.

I decided after my first one went (and I take really good care of it, still had the plastic over some of the stuff on the front) that I would just go to bestbuy get a warranty and be done with it, they are really great about taking back broken systems.

Im considering going and just buying the core system with warranty from best buy,Does anybody know if the newer xbox s dont have this RROD problem.

I hear they can still get it but its a much smaller chance I think down form like 15-20% to like 5-10% (its a big improvement but not prefect).

My brothers broken 1 console due to anger and misuse and they just take it back give him a giftcard for the amount spent and let him get another.

I'd wait tho, Price cuts are coming in the fall. (although it might only be for the pro console which they are switching the elite to the 299.99 mark)

i'm telling you man...i'm on my 10th 360....just send yours in, get it replaced, sell the refurbished return for cheap and put the money toward a new pro (which are supposed to run MUCH better) or even better...a ps3

Is the only difference between the Core and the Elite the HDD? Does the Core also have HDMI?

I have a Gen1 model that (luckily) has never RROD'd. But the optical drive sounds like a jet engine when playing any disc-based game and I'm debating replacing it. Just upgraded from the 20gb to the 120gb HDD so it's just a matter of deciding on the console now...

I jnow Im so thinking about this route ,Gamestop will give me 70.00 for it.What I think is really stupid is they give you 3 years warranty from when you buy it.If it breaks and they fix it they dont renew your 3 years its still as of the day you got it.I was shy 3 months She was like ohh right on time 3 more months and you would have had to pay.Iam like you just fixed it last november she says warranty is as of the day you got it.

Yea core has the HDMI.Thats all I really need because I have the wireless mic and the wireless controller ohh and the hard Drive.

I'm onto my third xbox. I've owned almost all the home consoles at some point and the 360 is the only one that I've had bother with. Apart from the NES and dust

lol blow in it and bang on it its amazing mine still works after all the times I did that as a kid and now taking care of a new system it breaks in 2 years

After my third 360 died, that was it for me. Got a PS3 and never looked back.

My elite died after six months with mild usage. I would turn it on and the screen would freeze and make poka dots every where. Good thing is was under warranty. Better then PS3... hardly as far a reliability.

I'm on my 2nd Xbox 360, 2nd Wii, and 2nd PS3. The 360 lasted over a year before it failed. The other 2 only lasted 2-3 months. Just long enough so I couldn't take them back to the store. Anyway, I'm also thinking about upgrading to a new core system for the 360 when I upgrade my AV receiver because I would like for it to have HDMI.

Um... that is the definition of a warranty: it's warranted (ie. guaranteed to function properly) for 3 years from date of purchase. If they renewed the warranty after every repair, you could keep bringing it in indefinitely, which would be a "lifetime" warranty, and I don't know ANY electronics device with a lifetime warranty.

Cool, thanks. I heard you have to transfer licenses for any XBLA games if you want them on a new machine, but that can all be done via their web site now. Looks like all I need to do is pick up the core, put my new 120gb HDD on it (since I haven't installed it on the old one yet) and re-download my content.

sy is right, even with the bestbuy ones they give you all the money you paid for the system back but if you get another you need to buy another warranty.

I have friends that are their 12th or 13th xbox.

I can't believe Microsoft can get away with this. It's a tad bit ridiculous don't you all think? Does anyone even have a friend or know someone on their first xbox? I sure as hell don't.

5th or 6th? 12th or 13th? I'm a PS fan boy for a reason -

3 PS2s(1 was broken by my brother 6 months after I got it, got the 3rd one when the 2nd one was 5 years old)
1 PS3(Just over a year old)
People say these systems don't hold up well but that hasn't been my experience and I will NEVER buy an X-Box.
My brother gave me an X-Box a few years ago, I kept it for about a year without turning it on then I tossed it out.

I guess your right about the warranty.I guess I can buy the core and use the new hdmi and when that goes to repair I have the old for back up.Its pretty sad the day I would say I needed a 2nd xbox so when my 1st one is broken.I would so jump on a ps3 if I didnt have the blu ray player.The only Downside is theres Rumors about a new xbox with the natal features coming out next year.Maybe Im mad for nothing I mean there gona fix it.Its only 2 months before I get it back.
