If you want a semi-realistic take on what would happen if the X-Men were hired by the government, Alphas is a great show. Mostly a weekly episodic show, but there are long-running plot lines. The mix of characters is decent though the cast is big enough where the short seasons do impact character development at times.
Superhero fans will eat it up. |

I watch it for my scifi fix, but is pretty weak.
Make sure you've seen everything like Warehouse 13, Sarah Connor Chronicles, Fringe, LOST, Stargate, Heroes, Touch, Chuck, etc before spending time on Alphas. But yes, I writing has gotten better. |

As a big X-Men fan and huge fan of Heroes i started watching this thinking it might be similar but it really didn't do it for me. Heroes was basically the "xmen but more realistic" thing and this seems like its trying to fill the space Heroes left once it was cancelled. I think the problem i had once that it was too realistic. Like the powers werent like healing, fire, ice etc. they werent very cool. I personally stopped watching but could be worth giving it a shot, you might like it.
