I was able to play a standard DVD in the Sony BDU drive without a problem.
I am goint to rent a few Blu Ray Discs from Blockbuster tonight and try to play them to see if the problem lies in the sample Blu-Ray disc that came with the BDU. I hope it is just a bad disc. |

I rented two Blu Ray discs; Chicago and Rush Hour 3.
The first few sections of the disc (Blu-Ray promotional blurb) runs just fine on the Cyberlink Ultimate software but then the HTPC crashes when it come time to get to the movie itself. With Rush Hour 3, the HTPC crashes at the outset. It does not appear to be a hardware problem because the Sony drive plays a standard DVD without a problem. I noticed that each of the Blu-Ray discs use a different codec. Any suggestions out there? |

im really not that computer literate. all i can suggest is go to the cyber link website and use the bd/hddvd advisor. it will scan your computer and let you know where your ready or not ready for play back.
http://www.cyberlink.com/english/tec..._gen/index.jsp my wife bought me this desktop. quad core nvidia 8500 card 3 gb ram. i was sure i could run bd playback but i did the advisor anyway and it said i was good to go with everything but the blu drive. i played a few movies with no issues. even the pip on resident evil extinction worked fine. i myself had to do some research before i installed it so i knew how to and know what i had. i only used the software that it came with. sorry i cant be more of a help ![]() |

I bypassed my JVC reciever and used the same HDMI connection directly to my Samsung DLP and the Blu-Ray discs now play just fine but now I have lost the surround sound system.
I may upgrade to the new Yamaha RX V463 and hope it solves the problem. Any idea what may have caused the crashes with the JVC receiver? |

The BDU-X10S has a plain black bezel that sports the Sony and Blu-ray logos as well as a green activity light. Everything you'll need to install the drive is in the box, including a Serial ATA (SATA) cable and SATA power adapter, mounting screws, and a quick-start guide. Sony even throws in a replacement loading tray cover kit in case the original cover is too big for your PC. The drive also comes with a CD containing Cyberlink's PowerDVD 7.3 Blu-ray Disc software player applet and an electronic user manual. The drive requires at least a 3.4GHz Pentium D processor to operate correctly, and Sony recommends a 2.4GHz Core Duo or higher for optimal performance. Other requirements include at least 512MB of memory, a High-Bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP)-compliant display to view protected Blu-ray content, a 256MB graphics engine with HDCP support, and any version of Windows Vista or Windows XP with SP2. The BDU-X10S reads CD media at 24x and DVD media at 8x, but Blu-ray media is still limited to 2x read speeds.

Does anyone know why when I installed the player into my computer, and I try to play the disc, it is okay to play through the previews, but then becomes intermittent during the movie? It plays okay on 720 resolution, but will do that when I try to change the resolution to 1080.
I have upgraded my card and my computer has enough memory and the right processor in order to support it. Does someone have suggestions? |

Hello everyone.
I'm not sure to use the thread properly but I want to ask a question. I have a Sony BDU-X10S. It seels working well with windows XP and Power DVD. But windows is unable to displmay the directory of the BD Rom inserted. Is it an issue? If yes what do I have to do to correct? Thanks for your answer... |
