Default Prices of DVDs must come down if we are to buy into this

I do not have a problem with copyright protection, and I understand that the studios lose a bunch of money because of illegal copying, but if they want us to buy into a new technology and spend more money on equipment, the prices of DVDs must come down. I don't care if the packaging gets slimmer, it is a waste of material in most cases anyway.

We are buying the movie, not the package; unlike food and other manufacturers who believe (and rightly so) that package fluff sells more product.

Back to the subject of money, I don't want to have to spend $20 on a new movie, at Walmart no less! Movies a year or two ago were $16 at most, but recently the prices have started to climb, especially for new releases. It costs less than $2 to make the DVD, case, and wrapper. It costs less than $1 to ship and stock it.

These prices have gone up and for no good reason EXCEPT because the studios feel they have to make up for lost profit on illegal copying. All I can say is that I will not pay $20 for movies if I have to buy new equipment, and if the studios want to make up for lost revenue, don't charge the people who don't copy illegally!
