Default Borat on Blu-ray?

Maybe it's because I'm a 21 year old college student...but I loved Borat. Will it be out on Blu-ray?

By the way, I'm glad I found this forum. I've been buying Blu-ray movies just to support the format (though I'm a big movie buff). Glad to see other true believers are out there.

I'm still waiting for Fox to announce it. Loved this movie!

Maybe its just me... but would Borat on Blu-ray be that much better than DVD? Cinematography wasnt this films strong-suit. While I enjoyed the movie immensely, I dont feel that it would be that much more better in HD.

I want to have the best version of the film, and the Blu-ray would be the best version. The image will be sharper, the audio will be crisper, and though it may not be that much better than the DVD (yet to be seen), it will be worth having it in high def.

I'm pretty sure it'll be on Blu-Ray since it made over $100 million at the box office. If not, then Fox isn't being smart.

It was shot in hd so it should look better on Blu-ray.

This might not look too good in HD, since it was shot live.

As was mentioned, this title was shot in HD Video, so it should look great on Blu-ray.

Borat:

Film negative format (mm/video-inches):
Video (HDTV)
Cinematographic process:
HDV
DV (partly)
Printed film format:
35 mm
Aspect ratio:
1.85

Well if it was shot on HDV, a 1080 BD transfered properly should be the closest to the master, while 35mm exhibition derived from it can be no better and due to film emulsion and optics' MTF losses, grain, and projector vibrations/focusing errors could be less, and a DVD is just a downconversion of approximately 1/4th the original pixel count.

The video wasn't HD, it look more like DV to me... maybe that's because of how it was tranferred to film, but it looked a little too pixelated to be 1080p. Maybe it was heavily compressed.

They could make the filmed parts look good though

Cool thanks for all the responses. I just asked because I didn't see anything about Borat being released; I guess Fox is still trying to milk the last of the box office revenues.

On a side note, I haven't seen a movie in Blu-Ray that I've been disappointed with. I think Borat could be a big seller for Blu-Ray... many people with PS3s need big titiles to convince them to try out Blu-Ray movies.

Day and Date with the DVD. Listed for only $20 too. Its a Fox title, so it should be about $27 - I wonder if it was a misprint or if they are going to sell this title for cheaper?

josh miss typed! Yay!

The list price is US$29.99. Amazon price is US$19.95. Judging by the box office receipts, it's going to be huge. Fox need only to prime it up to the PS3 audience next month.

I tried to submit this title to DVDAF, the the guy came back and said it had the UPC for the UMD. Might be a placeholder or might have been a mistake. I just hope that Amazon honors the low price either way.

The DVD is listed for $15.99.

Wierd. I guess they figure a documentary-type comedy wouldn't sell at normal prices.

Well you know, this could be an interesting test for Fox. If the MSRP is not a faux pas, it could mean that they're testing the market again but this time with a lower MSRP. If this is a blockbuster title for BD, then it may indicate to them that it is more profitable to sell at a lower price. Just a random thought.
