Default coraline real 3-D

When I watched this in the theater I couldn't keep the glasses on b/c it'd give me sore eyes and a headache. So I guess I should avoid "real 3d" movies. I ended up watching over half the movie w/out the glasses which made everything blurry.

Are there any 3d technologies that don't make you sore?

When 3D movies at home come to the market, I hope they demo the 3D TVs so I can see if I'll get sore from them before investing in one.

From what I've heard the only reason people have negative side affects from Real D movies is if they have had lasik eye surgery. I'm not sure if this applies to traditional cyan magenta 3D but it most likely does.

I already use eye wear and I have not had lasik surgery. Maybe it causes sore eyes and headache for people with eye wear?

This is the first 3d experience I had.

Hmm, that's strange. Did you wear the 3D glasses over your regular glasses? That's what I did and didn't have any issue.

Haven't done Real3d, but I have other 3ds, I wear glasses, and haven't had headaches from it. Just takes a minute or two for my eyes to adjust and then no problem.

Yep.

It's more of an eye strain than a headache. I'm guessing the older 3D technology would just be worse for me.

Hopefully one day they can do this without using any special glasses at all.

Yea I think one of the manufacturers at CES said they will be able to one day do 3D without glasses. But that technology is at least 10 years away. Right now it would make people sick to watch it. But don't quote me, I just remember reading that.

Default Cause of headache...?

Even though I really enjoyed the 3d effect for My Bloody Valentine, I also had a minor headache after watching the film.

I was reading more about RealD, and found this on wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Real_D

Part of the technology refers to circular polarization:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Circular_polarization

I'm wondering if that's the cause for the headaches?

Nope, I also where glasses and had no problems (though my vision is pretty good even without glasses over long distances). It could be that the projector wasn't in focus and thus caused a blu overlay of the two images (as that how real-d works). I'd give it another shot, but try and get there in the few opening days at a good cinema (even if you have to pay for it, it is worth it).

The trick to watching 3d movies is to try not to fight it just go with it. The more you try to fight it the worse its going to get.
