Does anyone here have or have seen the Philips 52PFL7403D/27 52-inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV? I just got a Costco membership today and got their coupon book that shows it will be $400 off in August regular price $2199.00. I am wondering how it will compare to the Sony Bravia XBR series that I have been holding out for.

I heard the response time on these is fantastic.
I spent some time yesterday checking out the avsforum.com thread about these televisions, they seemed to be getting good reviews. Let me link you real quick. http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=981647 Read the last few pages, as the first couple are more about speculations. I've been thinking about upgrading my Philly to this model - well, the 7603, I can't make do without Ambilight anymore, ![]() ![]() It's no XBR, but it does the job well. And for Mod's sake, don't turn this into a thread for TV bashing. |

![]() ![]() ![]() LOL ![]() The beauty of Costco is that you have 90 days to confirm you really like the set before you can return it for a full refund. I'm about halfway through my 58" Panny trial period, and still love it! Seriously, they have the best return policy in the business, which is perfect for major purchases like this. |

I went to Costco today and saw the 7403 in action. Dear Jeebus. Do NOT use the 120 Hz feature on this TV. I mean damn. There was so much ghosting/artifacting/w.e you want to call it that it hurt me to see! I couldn't tell if they were playing the Narnia Blu-ray or the Narnia DVD! I want to assume the set was not properly set-up and/or calibrated. I couldn't find a remote to fix it, I was grumbling to myself,

I just got one from Costco, If you use the PS3 turn on the 24hz option so the tv does not double the refresh rate. I find it incredible, I'm not used to the 120hz feature it makes things more 3D but the movement of item is real different. The viewing angle is smaller 160 degrees instead of 172. Overall i'm very happy, also you can buy it early and go back in for a coupon rebate. This way you will get it at the 1799. price. I have a feeling that they will sell out!

![]() I looked at many TV's for months. I was convinced I'd be buying a Sony, Samsung or LG TV, from somewhere. I went to Costco one day to "look" at their TV's again and saw this Philips TV at $1399 (without any rebates) and bought it as I was impressed with the picture. The ironic thing was Philips was not even a name I ever considered. Now as far as my testimonial on this TV, first off, for the money I couldn't touch it with a Sony, Samsung or LG much less any other brand. I am very happy with the quality of the picture and the sound as well. One thing it lacks is PIP, but when I had that feature on my last TV I never used it anyway. I am not sure why others out there are seeing $1799 with a $400 rebate from Costco. I do know the one I bought was the last one, perhaps that had something to do with it. But regardless of the price, I would recommend this TV. On a scale of 1-10 (10 being best) I'd give it a 9. Only reason it's not a 10 is because I do have one knock, as I change channels there is a delay. But perhaps that is due to my satellite box, I am not sure yet. |
