Are you sad that there is no F1 Grand Prix In Montreal in 2009 ? I could't care less because i prefer the Nascar. I know Ecclestone is killing his own sport. No F1 in North America at all in 2009.

So it's official now that Abu Dhabi is the replacement for Montreal?

I don't know how popular the F1 is in Canada, but in the US it brought in less and less viewers/money. Nascar is definitely the #1 racing sport over here.
It's pretty sad, because F1 is so much more fun

Yeah, the Grand National and now the Nationwide series has raced there the last two years.

If the big dogs were to come, now that would be something else.

A couple of years ago, only the Super Bowl and the World Cup Final had a larger worldwide audience than the Canadian Grand Prix.

Well that bloody sucks. I was planning to try and go to Montreal this year. Was going to do it last year, but the timing was wrong. Damn!

This is bad news for this city. This is something people always looked forward too and it was always a blast to go downtown during the weekend to see all the girls, cars, festivities downtown. I know business on Crescent street did 25% of the yearly income just on F1 weekend so it's devastating for the economy as well. Sad news, this was going to be my first year going too

Hopefully it is only a 1-year off while they get funding sorted out, I don't think that pratt Ecclestone was being realistic with a time frame.

Guess I gotta cancel my hotel reservation now.

This pisses me off and makes me very sad, the F1 in Montreal is one of the year's highlights every year. Next year would have been my ninth year in a row in attendance and we have freakin' great seats - G21 Sec 8 Row A Seats 3 and 4 - that's trackside first row on the hairpin with a 20 minute escape from the venue as we're super close to the Metro.

Oh well, with F1 still not broadcasting in HD it's hard to understand just about anything that Bernie does. They need to kick him out on his ass and put Schumi in that role.

Abu Dhabi isn't a replacement, it was already on the provisional calendar with Canada in June. Turkey has moved to the date the Canadian race was supposed to be on.

F1 is incredibly popular in Canada. It bring half a million people to Montreal and attendance this year was over 120,000 on race day, probably more if you include the GA tickets.

I don't find any other racing sport to be half as interesting, exotic or as grand as Formula One.

Personally, I find NASCAR more exciting, but will watch both.

a bit, It was kind of cool. I can understand that some of these other places are willing to pay big $ for it, but I think it is a mistake not to have a north American GP

It's a huge mistake considering that F1 is supported by car manufacturers - they will not be happy about not being able to market their products in NA.

Eccelstone is all about one thing - lining his billion dollar pockets with more money....

NASCAR is about racing the other drivers

F1 is about racing the other drivers, the other cars, and the track.

I find NASCAR boring and F1 engaging with its additional challenges.

Not sad after hearing what kind of demands F1 had to keep the race there.

I am totally apathetic towards F1 and it does not matter to me where the races take place. It's all business anyways.
