Streaming video from PC to Samsung BD3600

I am able to stream from my PC to my blu-ray player on my TV but I can only view AVI files. I have several other files on my desktop that i want to be able to view such as home movies. I cant seem to get anything but AVI to play and I would like to get better quality while streaming.

The specs on the player say it can play AVCHD but my player doesn't see the file when I go the folder where I have stored the MPEG-4 or AVCHD file. Am I converting wrong or are there specific things I need to do for my player to recognize those files like it does AVI's?

I just took a look at the manual online and it states that you can only stream DivX format videos. Only files with the .avi and .divx extention can be streamed from your computer.

The AVCHD playback is for discs only, most likely for any camcorder disc playback.

And, unfortunately, they limit you to these following specifications:
- Video Files with following extensions can be played : .avi, .divx, .AVI, .DIVX
- DivX Video (Codec) Format : DivX 3.11 DivX 4.x DivX 5.x
- DivX Audio (Codec) Format : MP3, MPEG1 Audio Layer 2, AC3, DTS
- Supported subtitle file formats: .smi, .srt, .sub, .psb, .txt, .ass
- Maximum resolution : 720x480@30fps, 720x576@25fps
- Minimum resolution : 16x16
- Maximum frame rate for progressive source : 30 frames per second
- Maximum field rate for interlace source : 60 fields per second
