Default Do you shutdown your computer at night?

I always leave mine on. 24/7. Is this bad?

Do you shutdown at night? Standby? Hibernate?

I leave my server on 24/7, but logged off. All of my other PCs, I always shut down. I generally leave my Mac laptop on all the time, unless I have just done a software update or have been driving it hard with graphic editing and stuff and feel that the processor needs a break.

I leave mine on 24/7...always have with every computer I've ever owned (other than my laptop). And I've never had a problem. My current Compaq is getting old and I need a new one, but it's 5 years old.

I shut mine off at night. It is easy for me to do because my computer boots in about 10 seconds.

I turn my computer off every night. It's just a normal desktop that I use to surf and play games so there is no reason for me to keep it on all day.

I had to turn my old PC off when I watched movies because the fan I put in was way too loud. My new PC is super quiet. Never know it's on.

Leave 'em on... all 4 of 'em. We have 3 iMacs and 1 MacBook Pro in the house. They hibernate overnight, so there's really no reason to shut them off.

Once upon a time this was considered a good way to burn out your machine faster, but power management technology has evolved so much in the last 10-15 years that it's negligible.

Plus I have backup software set to run every morning @ 3am.

I, too, leave my server running 24/7 (except when I go out of town or something), and shut down all my other puters. My laptop sometimes I'll sleep overnight. The main concern is making sure the power supply vents on your rig aren't blocked. I've seen enough power supplies die from inadequate ventilation, like towers under a desk with the rear of the tower up against the desk or wall.

Leave mine on 24/7 because I have MagicJack as my phone system and it uses broadband.

I put my laptop in Sleep mode when not in use. But turn it off, no. Not unless there is a MS update or something like that.

I never have turned a computer off at night nor have I had any problems not doing so. Also, the middle of the night is my computer's time to do all those nasty scans (spyware..virus...defrag..etc etc) that would normally slow me down during the day.
