I'll go out of my way to avoid Monster products in my HT.

(I have some old interconnects that I used with a SACD player that are Monster because way back when I wasn't into shopping online for stuff like that and they were not too pricey at Fry's Electronics.)

Monster's gouging and mis-leading most of the HT buyers have left me wanting to simply ignore them. Plus they tried to sue a mini-golf place that used the word Monster in the name... that company has no class.

link ... http://www.engadget.com/2008/05/26/m...-golf-company/

Currently I don't have a nice power conditioner but I'm looking to get a few soon.

-Brian

p.s. The Monster power conditioner in you AV Rack looks nice. I wouldn't mind having one actually provided I picked it up used and I was sure Monster wasn't making money off the deal. Power conditioning can be a good thing and the Monster products don't look so bad all things considered.

True, but for your $$, Panamax is the way to go.

Personally, I'd recommend one of these:

http://www.amazon.com/APC-H15-Theater-1500VA-Conditioner/dp/B000AHVGA6/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1249059482&sr=8-3

I have one and really like it. I was able to get mine for <$100 during a closeout sale. For that price, it trumps anything Monster or Panamax have to offer.

You can't go wrong with Panamax.

I have a Monster HDP-2400 and am very happy with it. Now, I didn't pay full price...in fact, I paid less than half ($199 vs $499CDN MSRP).

As an aside, if I omitted companies because they sue'd another, I would be left with no company to buy from. With all due respect, that is a weak and pointless issue.

I also jumped on the APC 15 deal a while back when they were going for $99 and picked up a couple for both systems.

But to answer your question, Edubb, I would go with the Panny over Monster

When I was looking and comparing specs/price/etc., it seemed that Panamax was always less expensive for a comparable product. Then the APC deal came along and blew everything else away.

Cool Panamax is well-worth the money IMHO!

I am VERY happy with the money I spent on the Panamax M5400-PM. At higher volume levels, it keeps the sound very clear...that is the main difference I noticed with it. Here is an image of the M5300-PM I returned to get the M5400-PM as it has Voltage Regulation -- which I need where I am.

I have the Monster Power HDP-1800. I notice that when my dishwasher kicks on or switches between cycles there is a quick glitch in the picture while watching cable only. No issues when watching a DVD or Blu Ray. TV and Cable box run through the Power Center. Isn't it supposed to filter out this very sort of thing?

most of you are slamming Monster pretty bad, but in all actuality, their power conditioners are pretty nice...on paper at least. I don't own one, and the only reason I have the APC H15 was because of it's price tag and that is seriously it. Do the comparison of Monster vs whatever is close in price range, and you'll see what I mean. I am not a Monster fan at all, but their power centers are their best product. Just saying...

I'm not saying Monster doesn't make a quality product, but as bhampton said above, I make it a point to avoid them. I don't like their strong-arm, bully-whoever-they-can business practices so I choose not to give them any of my money.

Hey guys! I just retired my Monster PC after more than 5 years as the AC cord head has been burnt but repairable. The unit has served me well.

trust me, I agree with all of you and will personally never use Monster, but my point is that their power conditioners are really their only good product. That's it.
