Default Werewolf Movies or Chick Flicks?

Is it just me, or are you tired of vampire movies?
Is it just me or are you sick of werewolves being treated like the vampire's wing man?
Personally, I find werewolves a thousand times more interesting than vampires. Not only do they have a richer history, in folklore, but they don't need to be constantly "updated" or "rebooted" to remain interesting. Vampire stories, believe it or not, came from werewolf stories. Humans and dogs have existed, side by side, since the dawn of civilization. There is a primal connection between man and wolf that draws us in. Werewolves make sense.
Moreover, werewolves are rarely given proper justice, in films. They are often handled as if they are hairy vampires (take The Howling, Underworld and An American Werewolf in Paris for example)

I'm looking forward to the new Wolfman movie. I hope it's done right.
I don't think it will overturn the popularity of vampires as long as Hot Topic stores are still in business, but I think it's about time that a good shape shifter movie comes out. The last decent werewolf movie that I can think of was An American Werewolf in London.

Anybody else think werewolves need to tear these uninteresting, over-romanticized vampire movies a new one?

Best werewolf movies recently:

Dog Soldiers

Skinwalkers.

Plus, werewolves don't sparkle.

I'd add Van Helsing and Rise of the Lycans to that list.

Some people seem to be forgetting...you were once new to this forum once too! Why attack the guy for the subject of his discussion? Like the forum about Seth Rogen being dissed by Megan Fox, is soo much more thought provoking?!? Gimme a break.

Van Helsing was specifically what the OP was talking about.

The Werewolf was the lacky of the Vampire.

Sorry. I'm new. I saw the "Dark Knight vs Watchmen" thread/poll and thought that this kind of thing was acceptable. I mean, those movies aren't even related other than the fact that they're both revered DC/Warner properties. At least this is, sort-of, a commentary on a cinematic trend that's been going on since the late 1990's.
