Default Titles that DO have a "resume" feature?

since my limited experience with blu ray isn't revealing too many discs that have the resume playback feature, out of curiosity can anyone tell me some titles that do have the resume playback incorporated into them? would it be correct to say that the newer the blu ray, the less likely to have resume playback. thanks.

It depends on the studio like for instance this anime company called Funimation they never use the bookmark feature so it defaults to the resume feature instead including their newest releases.

Ones encoded with Java don't have resume play everything else does.

I wish studios would do what A Bugs Life did which was have an automatic bookmarking feature that would ask when you start if you would like to resume from the previous point. Also, the SeasonPlay on LOST friggin rocks!

I really like this type of feature and really wish all studios would support it. I'd prefer the bookmark option rather than just automatically resuming where you left off when starting again.

Fortunately Prison Break Seasons 1 & 3 both support resume play. It'd really be a pain in the arse if they didn't, what with how long they are.

Most older releases have resume. Like someone else said - before they started using Java. I think I have dozens if not 100's of Blu-rays that resume when put back in to play on my PS3.

The UK release of Monsters Inc does the same, even has a progress bar show far through the last showing got.

From all the 'resume not available on Java menu dics' comments does this mean Disney do their menus some other way??

Most older WB titles without IME features resume. The new rerelease of Superman Returns has the resume feature as well.

it's a shame that playback or bookmarking isn't a trend that studios have kept up with. Does anybody else ever accidentally hit the stop button and loose their place in the movie they're watching because of the lack of playback? I do this a lot when I'm blindly trying to hit the pause button on the PS3 remote (DOH!! Note to self: Pause is bottom button; play is top; NEVER hit the one in between!)

yeah, before getting into blu ray just a couple weeks ago, the one thing i didn't see, or didn't take notice of, is the resume feature, or lack thereof. a single disc player is bad enough, but not having resume across the board is really a pain and a semi-serious shortcoming in the format at present. i've gotten completely used to having up to 5 discs in a dvd player, watching part of one, stopping for whatever reason, starting another, maybe not getting back to the first one for a day or two, etc. to have to completely restart a disc, including warnings, previews, and menus, everytime i hit "stop" is really an annoyance. i'm not going to return the player on account of that, but i am going to be more likely to buy titles that i know have a resume feature, or at least bookmarking, built in. for watchmen sp. ed. to not have either seems inexcusable.

well, it serves some function, but again to get to it you have to sit/click through reboot, ads, previews, then to the menu, then to scene selection, etc. and maybe i stopped play in the middle of a scene. anyway, i think it's a basic feature that every BD should have.

in the short time i've been on this and other similar forums, i'm puzzled by the number of people who don't seem to take issue with the lack of a resume feature on every BD. again, to me it's a basic feature that no disc should be published without. other considerations aside, if you've got enough time to sit through a 3-hour movie (e.g. watchmen sp. ed.) start to finish, or don't mind the time wasted on sitting through a reboot and clicking through previews and menus just to get back to where you left off, then you've got just a little too much free time on your hands.

no offense meant to anyone.

I have a PS3 so it doesn't really matter to me about the reboot time. It'd take me only seconds to get to any scene in the movie...

As for my BDP-S1, I wouldn't ever completely stop a movie that has Java. I'd simply pause it as it does take me a while to load the disc.

So in short, the resume feature doesn't bother me.

I have young children, so I have no idea what that's like.

The only time I can watch a movie in its entirety is when my wife/kids are out of town.

Tried that, and then Child and Family Services knocked on my door like I did something wrong.

What a bunch of jerks. Can't they mind their own business???
