Dear all,
i am considering a polk RTIA based setup. my room is 18 X 24 X 11, option 1: 2X RTI A9 , 4X RTI A1 , CSi A4 ( all have 5 1/4 drivers) Option 2: 2 X RTI A7 , 4X RTI A3 , CSI A6 (all have 6 1/2 drivers) AVR will be most likelly something in 110 W per channel. on the sub which will be better, 2 PSW 125 or 1 DSW Pro 600? i am not living in the states so ED is not an option. so what do u advise? my main concern is the dynamic range of the setup not power (even thought the 2 options are powerfull enough) Last edited by MADNOD; 08-01-2009 at 03:46 PM. |

Elemental Designs is the way to go,they ship anywhere if you don't mind paying shipping costs,i'd def go with them or SVS or www.hsuresearch.com or http://www.epiksubwoofers.com are all great sub woofer manufacturers
polk isn't known to make great subwoofer's the Polk DSW Pro-600 lacks bass under 30-35hz...the amp is small...get 600 dollars+ worth else where..you'll thank me Last edited by blu_world; 08-02-2009 at 12:22 AM. |

I for one would definitely recommend a RTi A setup. Option 1 concerns me because I can see that since you would be spending a bit more on the towers A9's that you are knocking down to the A1 bookshelves and the CSi A4. The A9's are quite powerful and they would provide enough power for your room. Bumping the rears and center channel down would not be a good idea in my opinion. I have Option 2, with only a 5.1 setup currently. The center channel is simply amazing and in my opinion a speaker nobody should ever scrimp on. The center is very important. Have you considered the FXi surrounds? If not, look into them. They are great surrounds! I've heard the Polk subs and I know there is better out there. Epik and SVS are great subwoofer companies. You should not be disappointed in either of these. Check out the Acoustic Audio forum also. (https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=85212) There are a lot of people over there that like these subs and are great for the price. I have looked into all three of these, still debating on what I want. ![]() |

I like the setups you are considering. I will say depending on the avr, you might would want to add an external amp especially if you get the A9's. I am a member of polks forum and the general consenses is that the A7's is the weekest of the line because it lacks a little in midrange. Sub wise, I would say if you could listen to the subs do it. Dont be fooled by size of the sub or amp. I bought a Martin logan dynamo. It has too be the smallest 10inch sub I have ever seen tipping the scales at a mere 28 lbs with a 200 watt amp and 10 in woofer. It is one of the best subs I have ever heard. Very fast, accurate, musical, and produces great bass. It does not get down to sub 20hz but its goes deep. Was very shocked when I heard it.

thanks dor the feedback.
aftersome thinking i'll be going for the below: 2 X RTI A7 , 1 CSi 6 , 4 RTI A1. reciever will be yamaha 663 (the only onkyo available here are 606 or 875, Pioneer and denon are way more expensive !) if i need more power i'll buy external amps later on, what i care about now are the feature set of the AVR. for the sub the PSW 125 was boomy for me , the DSW Pro 600 was much better, my other available option will be the JBL ES250P but yet i'll have to hear it. |

this is to update u that i bought the RTI A9 instead of the RTI A7! i've did some readings and i found that the RTI A9 is a more complete speaker than the RTI A7. even thought i don't have the power to adequatly power them but again i am sure my speakers will out last the AVR, so 2-3 years down the road i'll be getting external amps for them to unleash their power.
so now it's 2 RTI A9 , 1 CSi A6 and one DSW PRO 600. i'll buy the surrounds later, i am still thinking about getting the A1 for rear and the FXI A4 for the side. funny that it all started as a TSI configuration, good thing that i've just had my birthday, so my wife was gentle! |

Great choice, I know you will be happy with your decision. Its amazing how your decisions evolves as you demo and research more on your equipment. Glad to hear that you are considering the FXi's for your side surrounds. I can't wait to get mine, just have to wait for a bit more cash. You can get a good amp for a pretty decent price. At this point, I am happy with my setup being run totally by my Pioneer, but I have also said that in the future an amp would be a good addition to the ht setup. Can't wait to hear from you when you get your speakers. I imagine you are having them shipped, considering the area you are living. A lot of people like that yammy receiver. You will love it all. Let us know what you think and post some pics when you get your new speakers and all. ![]() |
