Default Need help with an iPod Dock and fan for my 805

I see mixed reviews on the DS-A2X. I could just run a cable from my computer upstairs to the receiver. But, I want other people to be able to connect their iPods as well. Also, my cabinet is small and it builds up heat. I have removed the back panel so alleviate some of this problem. I read somewhere on here a long time ago about a fan that made (relatively) no noise and came on automatically. But, of course, now I can not find it.

I've got an Onkyo Ipod dock, and it's Ok, but I'm not blown away by it.

For a fan you could try something like this.

What i did was i purchased 2 computer fans that can be powered by a usb cable and a USB splitter so i could hook up 2, then i got a usb to plug adapter the same one i use for my iphone and i plugged into the back of my receiver, this way when the receiver comes on so do the fans, very little noise with the fans i can't even hear them when my cabinet door is closed. Total cost was about $20, saving my gear from overheating, priceless.

The thing to me that's most frustrating about the Ipod dock is that I can't get it to display anything on my TV. I recall reading somewhere that it might be my particular model of Ipod causing this (4th Gen Nano). Maybe a different type of Ipod would output video? I can't see what I'm doing with it unless I walk up close enough to it that I can see the screen. The other thing you can do is get something like this. Plug one end of it into your Ipod's headphone jack, and connect the other end to your receiver. Much cheaper and works great. The drawback is no remote control.

Since I got my Apple TV, I have retired my iPod dock for my Denon. I may try to sell it on Craigslist.

Also, make sure you get one that is iPhone compatible in case you every upgrade. Mine was not iPhone compatible and would not charge it, just play the music.
