Default Question to members, Why do you fire your subs forward instead of against a wall?

I noticed alot of people do this.. I just looked at Nathan28s New SVS pb13 (very nice sub btw )And wondered why?? in my room which is about 16x20x8 if i fire the ports forward ( or at me ) , its like i lose half of the sound.. As in a car trunk you want roll off off the trunk lid and rear deck , which bounces soundwaves forward ( as long as your sealed off with no air leaks in the trunk )

Same with both my HT subs the AA hdsub12 which is front firing driver , rear fire port anf the klipsch sub12 which is down firing and rear aero port.. But if i turn them and fire them into the corner of the wall the bass difference is huge! More low end , more rumbles, and you dont hear the sub flutter or port noise...
