Does anyone know if the French subtitles are forced on this release?

Since it's a major studio release (Universal/StudioCanal) I would think not. Usually only independent French distributors force French subs on movies.

EDIT: DVDRama has a review (in French) of that disc which doesn't seem to state one way or another (though my French is atrocious), but I think they would mention it specifically the subs were forced.

I'm just hearing conflicting reports regarding these Studio Canal releases like: ALI,THE OTHERS are being reported as having "forced subtitles"
So i was curious about "THE INTERPRETER" since i believe the France release is the only one having a lossless audio being offered.

The photo under the audio review shows "VO sous-titrée français" (original English version with French subtitles), so they are forced I'm afraid (like every other Studio Canal release where they only own the rights for France).
