Default Samsung BD-P1400 VS. BD-P1500

I have had the BD-P1400 for a little over a year now, and was wondering what the difference is(if any) between the two? And, is it worth upgrading to the BD-P1500 or is it basically the same as the 1400 with the updates? thanks

The 1500 has profile 1.1 So far thats the main difference. If that doesnt matter to you, then I wouldnt!

With the 1400 you can use the 5.1 analog if your reciever does not have hdmi.
The 1500 only has 2.
That's a big deal for a lot of people .
Exspeacilly for someone like me, in the beginning.

my reciever has 7.1 HD sound.. so the bdp1500 sounds like a good investment

but wouldnt you rather run Optical for the sound instead of the 5.1 analog.

If someone has an older receiver without an HDMI port, analog is the only way to get HD audio. Toslink (optical) does not have the bandwidth to bitstream HD audio.

well, i had a 1400 and it wasn't playing 3-4 movies in my collection b/c the firmware couldn't support them.

and last i checked, they still hadn't put out an update.

so if it were me, i'd update.

movies it wouldn't play for me or for others that i heard were: Underworld 3, Quantom of Solace (mine played it fine), and Ghostbusters.

again, that was w/the lastest firmware that was avail. about 2 months ago.

Quantum of Solace? Have you heard of other people having problems with that title and the 1400? When I first got the Blu Ray of QoS, it played on my 1400 just fine - but I tried watching it again last week and it freezes up quite a bit. I thought perhaps there is something wrong with my disc.

well, i didn't have any issues w/it but when i called samsung about any firmware update, they said they were aware of the playback issue w/lycans and the new update was gonna include solace.

i dumped that piece of crap as soon as i had the money for a ps3!!!

It's worth upgrading to anything other than Samsung. (Another former jaded 1400 owner ) Let me throw in my 2 cents and mention that Sony makes great players.
