..... i think ur in the wrong section for this bud. but to answer ur question, i usually was addicted to buying 2 blus a week and spent over 200 bucks in 1 week which was very bad. so i just froze my paypal accnt (seeing as how thats what i used to buy most of my blus online) so if you spend via your visa/ paypal.. just freeze it for a week or two and its cut you right off.... when i cut myself off i ended up having to trade all the blus i didnt want just to get others (cuz i had to cash to spend) in the last 2 weeks i've only bought (with money) 2 blus. which is shocking considering i bought about 25-30 the two weeks prior to that.

Ya wrong section but this is what I do.

I find that subjectively selecting your next purchase is one way to stop the bleeding. I always try to poke holes in why I want things and if I truly want it or just to scratch an itch. This pretty much stops my me blind buying a lot of movies as I would end up being broke faster if I bought first and think later.

Another thing is just to rent movies. Instead of buying all the new releases, just rent the movies you are interested in. Saves you money in the long rung.

Avoid sales. Do not even look at the flyers as the sales would tempt you into buying more as they are on "sale". This will be become even harder as black Friday, boxing day and Christmas ads start popping up.

Try to only buy movies that you really want to watch on blu ray. My selection has only included movies I liked and will re watch many times.

Wow, I have never seen a question like this before.

Danman said it best, try to only get what you truly want. I had 100's of dvd's that I only watched once but hey, they were new at once point and everyone wanted to see them and I had them but now, I focus on what I truly want. For my blu collection I focused only on Bruckheimer movies (I know, a lot of people hate him but he makes a great popcorn flick that always seems to look great on blu) but I avoid buying NEW or something I know I don't want, no matter how good the price. I buy a couple of things to try, knowing I can hopefully trade them later on. It's all about the trades now.

I know sales are hard to avoid (that's how everyone gets such a huge collection.... at that price, you just have to have it) but it's not true. I guess it all comes down to your personal strength and how much you can withstand the easiness of buying blu's.

Read reviews, Knowing may look great on blu but the movie sucks, at least in my opinion it does. In the end, it all comes down to you.

I'm sure you'll be fine, just be smart and trust what you know (i'm a little bombed right now so hopefully I don't sound like an idiot )

We can start a GTA based group meeting and maybe web conference with people out of province. I can supply coffee and stale doughnuts and sorry if you are out of province but I can't mail you the stale doughnuts hope you understand.

Renting is key for movies you don't know about. Reviews are very subjective as something that a reviewer likes will be praised but you might not like that movie or genre. Pretty much all it comes down to is will power and how strong you are. If you have a significant other, you can ask them to help you out. They can beat some sense into you if you ever think about doing something wrong.
