Default Anyone have a Zvox?

I was thinking about getting a ZVOX Z-Base 550, and was wondering if anyone had one, and what your thoughts were on it's performance.

Granted they don't offer the same audio separation and quality of a full 5.1 or 7.1 system, they do a great job of providing affordable simulated surround sound without the need for an audio receiver/amplifier.

Crutchfield just started carrying them and release a little online review video that you can watch here:

I own the Zvox 415. I bought it for $399. I use it for watching TV. It is far better than the speakers on the TV. I am very happy with it, but I wouldn't recommend it as a substitue for a real 5.1 or 7.1 speaker system.

No im not trying to subsitute for a surround system. I'm just trying to get better sound with out much hassle. Do you think a nice 2.1 system around the same price would be better. I dont think it gets any easier than the Zvox and that is a big selling point for me.

Yes, a nice 2.1 system will sound better, but it is not as convenient as Zvox. That is the main reason I bought the Zvox. It is connected to the 73" living room TV. We don't use the 73" living room TV for HT. We just watch the news and some TV programs. We have a projector for HT use.

Thanks Big Daddy. I'm just having trouble making up my mind. The Zvox seems like something I would like, but for that kind of money I wonder if I should get something more substantial?

I’m considering a ZVOX because I have very limited space but I want better sound than my HDTV’s built-in speakers can offer.
