Arrow Narnia's Dawn Treader

More pics

Wanted to post an update to the third Narnia movie that's currently in production...

Quote:
I was just emailed these really cool images from Cleveland Point, Queensland, Australia where construction is almost completed for the Dawn Treader, the ship that is the center piece for the third installment of Narnia, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. The photos were actually taken by my Dad who lives near the site and he thought you FOOLS would like to see them. Filming has beguns but shooting of the ship early September and will last a little over 3 weeks. The ship has been built on a coastal point, I'm assuming so the ocean is behind them while filming, and stands at 12 metres high and 45 metres in length. The Dawn Treader has also been built on a gimble so the ship can pitch and tilt whilst being filmed.

So check out the four photos below, the first and second photos show the ship almost completed. The third shows a Dragon's head that when my Dad enquired about it he was told the head will be attached to the front of the ship and the fourth I'm not sure what they are I can only assume they are wings of the dragon that will also be attached to the ship. Either way they look pretty damn cool.

Nice!

Makes one wonder if it will be the last installment though.

Michael Apted is the new director...and hopefully this won't be the last installment...I mean book-wise there's not too much great material left...while I like the silver chair, that is really the last good one they could get out of the series unless they do Magician's Nephew but that's a prequel...I think it could fizzle out due to the loss of the Pevensies since after this one their Narnia flyer miles will be used up and Eustace Scrub (depending on how good the actor is) is iffy as a protagonist...and the last book is absolutely depressing so that wouldn't be a good film to make and personally I've never found the horse and his boy very interesting...Dawn Treader after Wardrobe is my favorite so I have high hopes

I heard this movie is about finding some lost people or something like that. I'm guessing that's the boat they're going to sail in.

Yeah. I remember that Disney said they were no longer going to be involved with this series and I could not remember who took over.

The Deus Ex Machina in Prince Caspian was terrible, i'm glad a new director is on board as well as a new screenwriter. The only two scenes in Prince Caspian that worked for me where when they start invading the castle (but that falls apart when the main force becomes involved) and the scene where Tilda is briefly seen as the White Witch again.

Trust us--It's BETTER.

(At least, there's more plot, and thus much less of the story to chop out and re-improvise, which's why the other poster thought the Caspian ending was a "deus ex machina"...
No, it was in the book, just that they either cut out the bits explaining it, or made a CGI money-shot mountain out of a one-paragraph molehill, depending on which ending you're referring to.)

The ending is the same in the book and works because of what comes before it (in the book), however in the film it seems to be skimmed over and not one of the main themes and thus becomes a deus ex machina. I also found Prince Caspian to not be very well shot and have worse acting and a crappy villain, though I did find LWAW to be much better (better well thought out action, better overall acting and a better villain), though TLWAW was still not as good as it could have been given the source material.

Just imagine how good the Narnia films could have been if someone like Peter Jackson directed them.

Edmund, and Lucy, along with their cousin Eustace Scrub are sent to Narnia to help KING Caspian find the seven lost lords of Narnia who were Caspian's protectors during the years Miraz was in charge, but Miraz banished them for doing so and now Caspian wants to repay them so they go island hopping around the Lone Islands

I think Caspian didn't work for a lot of people because the book was less well known and in my opinion the weakest of the series, Dawn TReader is a good story therefore they will have as much to work with as they did with the first...I personally thought Prince Caspian was very good, not as good as the first, but to be fair they were working with the least popular of the seven books

Originally when Disney started these movies they said they were going to 6 total on the scale of Lord of the Rings. The first movie didn't do nearly as well as they had hoped from try to ride the tail end of the Epic Magic Movie thing that LOTR started. So really I am not suprised at all that they got rid of the movie to another company and really after the first movie alone I am not expecting much from the rest of the Franchise after it. I mean Caspian flopped and waredrobe was slightly above average as far as a movie went. I'm not even going to expect this one to make back what they end up putting into it in the long run

That's just my opinion though.

They claimed they were going to do TSC.
(And hopefully weren't going to mess it up as badly as the BBC did--Although I could've seen Adamson go for the same mistake on depicting the Prince in the climax that the TV version did, and "Caspian" is all the evidence you need. )

The question is whether Disney/Walden was, or Fox/Walden is, planning to go past it:
LOTR-fever had them claiming they'd Do All Seven, then saying They'd Stop After Magician's Nephew, and then saying Well, Maybe They'll Wrap It Up After Silver Chair.
(Although there were reports that Walden wanted to do TMN sequentially before "The Horse and His Boy", so that TH&HB could bring back grown-up 20's-yo. Anna Popplewell and Georgie Hensley for Susan & Lucy's cameo.)

At this point, with all the delays, we don't know WHAT'S going to happen:
Are they going to use the same cast, get old-Harry-Potter fears and retire the series after #3? Or are they going to start replacing cast members, and then finding an excuse to blame that for any box office?
