![]() ![]() Ok, I went into this with low expectations because sequels are usually aren't that great compared to the first. Demoni 2, however, is a pretty good sequel. Is it as great compared to the first? No. I felt that this was more of a horror-comedy than a straight up horror film compared to the first film. The 80's pop music wasn't as good as the 80's metal used in the first film and the lack of any of Claudio Simonetti tracks from the first film, especially "Demon" kinda brings it down. I felt the Demon theme should have been used in this as well. Another thing that bothered me is the names of the characters, they're lifted straight from the first film; protagonist is named George and the lead female character is named Hannah which is the name of the character that Fiore Argento played in the first film. Bobby Rhodes who played Tony the pimp in the first film returns as Hank the gymnast and I think Bobby Rhodes really carries the film this time. He has a lot more screen time compared to the first film and I for one am really happy that they got the same voice over actor doing the dubbing Bobby. I was like; "Oh, s**t!" when I heard him speak and that same badass voice is heard. I think the cause to the start of the outbreak, which can be seen in the film's trailer, is pretty weak and lame. I felt that they just came up with that out of left field. But, what I think makes the film work as a comedy is something that was used in the first film which is used a lot in the sequel is the whole reflective tape that they put over the actors eyes to give them this whole glow to them. You see silhouettes of the demons running around and then you see just glowing white from the eyes. I really liked that and I think how they all moved made it funny as hell in some scenes. It's a fun 90 minutes to kill; I think it's a great sequel but it's not as good as the first film. I think anyone who enjoys Italian horror flicks will like it. So, check it out if you can. |
