Default Panasonic Viera Cast

Sorry if there is a thread on this already... I searched and did not see one.

I just noticed today that Viera Cast has Amazon On Demand up and running. Set up was very simple... pretty much like setting up Netflix on the XBox. You just go to Amazon.com on our PC and enter a 5 digit code that is displayed on your BD player. While at Amazon you also select your preferred payment method, and set a 5 digit pin code that is entered on your BD player when you want to make a purchase.

The audio is simple 2 channel... just like Netflix streaming. The video is decent... but I would say that Netflix HD streaming is a touch better... at least in my set up. The selection however is excellent. A lot of new releases and series available in HD.

I was wondering about this...I've played around with Viera Cast but haven't set up anything on Amazon. So the content is HD, but not good quality?

It's certainly not blu-ray quality, and not as good as cable or satellite HD either. The one film that I have watched so far, Half Light with Demi Moore, was not quite as crisp as much of the content that I have viewed on Netflix HD.

However, if you are sitting around wanting to watch a movie, and nothing on your shelves is screaming "watch me again," it's a very convenient way to enjoy a new movie. I'd say try it and see if you like it. Most HD films seem to be 3.9 or 4.99 to rent.....and there is a full screen preview to check out too.

Do you know whether they're presented in the original aspect ratio?

The one film I watched was letterboxed, but I can't say for certain it was the original aspect.
